I can’t remember the last time I got excited about the prospect of a new Brian DePalma movie, but Passion attempts to up the ante by featuring a love story between Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams. Sadly, a movie where a lesbian romance is considered “edgy” probably isn’t going to change the perception that he’s stuck in the eighties. On the plus side, the trailer saves you the trouble of sitting through the whole film by basically telling you the entire plot. A remake of the French film Crime D’Amour which looks like it must’ve been a remake of a Lifetime movie, Passion follows ruthless business lady Rachel McAdams as she seduces her protege Noomi Rapace into a life of canted angles, broken wine glasses, and lesbo stuff. Unless the movie contains actual scissoring, I’m not sure what the draw here is. Does the movie have scissoring? If so they should just say that.
I half expected Rachel McAdams’ character to say she minimizes risk.
