Yes Man is Jim Carrey’s first attempt at comedy since 2005′s Fun with Dick and Jane, which was roughly as funny as watching a puppy die. His last legitimately funny film was probably Liar Liar, back in ’97. I imagine it’s easy to lose your sense of humor when you spend all day getting your ass kissed by sycophantic leeches and being asked totally serious questions about the color of your coffee sleeve or the temperature of your toilet water.
Regardless, Carrey’s attempting a return to form. He stars opposite Zooey Deschanel, who makes me want to adopt a litter of kittens, and then bone them, in a film adaptation of a book by British writer Danny Wallace, who challenged himself to say yes to everything for a year. Samuel Jackson has been using the same strategy to choose scripts for years.
