‘KNIGHT RIDER’ IS A DIRTY STINKY WHORE

02.07.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Look at my wood paneling, Michael. Exquisite!

Will Arnett is out and Val Kilmer is in as the voice of "KITT the Talking Car" in NBC’s upcoming update of Knight Rider.  With his part already completed and just two weeks to go before air, you gotta wonder why.  Was Arnett drinking on the job?  Banging the boss’ wife?

Producers Doug Liman, Dave Bartis and Dave Andron — along with the network and studio — were all fine with his performance.  Problem is, Arnett had a contractual conflict of interest.

For the better part of a decade, Arnett has done voice-over work for General Motors — as the voice of GMC Trucks. NBC’s new "Knight," however, is "played" by a Ford Mustang.

What’s more, Ford isn’t simply providing cars for "Knight Rider." It’s taking an active role in the marketing and branding of the pic, a backdoor pilot for a possible series. Ford’s logo even appears all over NBC’s on-air promos for the pic. [Variety]

Oh my God, we couldn’t have him promoting two competing products!  People might think celebrities just say whatever you pay them to say!  WHAT’S THE WORLD COMING TO IF WE CAN’T TRUST CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENTS???!!?  Brimley’s gonna have hell to pay if I find out Quaker isn’t the best oatmeal.

Poor Will Arnett, he should’ve just gotten a job on The Transformers movie.  All the good guys are GM and the bad guys are Ford.  Heck, they even use the song from the Camaro commercial. No one’s a bigger whore than Michael Bay.  But tell us, what do you think about all this product placement, David Lynch?  (answer after the jump)

YEAH WHATEVER, TEEN WOLF

12.06.07 Written by Vince Mancini

This is Jason Bateman being his normal fruity-ass self, talking about the possibility of an Arrested Development movie with the show’s creator, Mitchell Hurwitz.

Ever since the final episode aired 22 months ago, with a scene in which Maeby (Alia Shawkat) tried to sell the rights of her family’s story to Ron Howard, only to have the sly producer insist he’d rather see it as a movie than a TV show, “AD” fans have filled the Internet with chatter. [MTV]

Arrested Development is probably the best show of all time, and since everyone on it (Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett) is kind of a big deal now – except David Cross, who must have a thousand-dollar-a-day coke habit to be taking part in the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie – a movie would make sense.

And movie adaptations of TV shows are all the rage right now, what with a Simpsons Movie, X-Files Movie, and Futurama Movie all being made recently.  I’m thinking we can expect an Arrested Development movie in about 2015.  Right after the Caroline in the City movie comes out.

Petit Update: As commenter "Lalala I can’t hear you!" points out, there’s plenty of goodness to be found on Arrested Development’s IMDB quote page.

‘BROTHERS SOLOMON’ CLIPS

08.29.07 Written by Vince Mancini

Collider posted a bunch of clips from The Brothers Solomon today.  I don't watch clips of movies I plan on seeing, but I was sort of on the fence about this one.  I watched them all, and I pretty much still am.  I like Will Arnett, but I don't see him carrying a movie.  I'm not sure how I feel about Will Forte – his Bush impression really sucked, and he always seems to be doing something weird with his lips, kind of like how Sandler used to make the baby voice all the time.  And Kirsten Wiig was funny in Knocked Up, but it seems like that's pretty much the only character she plays.

What can I say, JUDGE FOR YOURSELF FOR ONCE, PEOPLE. Guh.
