AN 80S REMAKE. HOORAY.

Hey, remember Flight of the Navigator?  I sure do kind of a little bit I guess.  So naturally it’s perfect for a remake.

The 1986 original told the story of a 12-year-old boy who is abducted by an alien spacecraft in 1978 and reappears eight years later, still the same age and with no memory of what happened. NASA scientists discover a connection between the boy and a downed spacecraft and try to exploit the boy, who ultimately escapes with the ship and attempts to reunite with his family.  The movie grossed only $17 million when it was released but was later rediscovered on VHS, becoming a cult hit. I swear to God, at least 50% of the kids’ movies made in the 80s involved trying to keep the government from doing experiments on someone.  What was up with that?  In any case, the remake is set to be written by the guy who wrote Wild Hogs, so I’m sure it will be an incisive parable for our times.

HOLLYWOOD IS EASY

03.17.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Some of Dan Fogelman\'s best friends are black kids.

CBS films just paid $1 million for a comedy pitch (not to be confused with an actual script) from screenwriter Dan Fogelman (who previously wrote Cars and Fred Clause).

Story revolves around four semi-retired baby boomers who embark on a getaway to Sin City. Fogelman’s pitch sparked a bidding war — one of the first significant heats since scribes returned to work last month. [Variety]

Fogelman was pitching, so clearly CBS Films was catching [get it? That was a sodomy reference - Ed.].  We can attribute Fogelman’s success to remembering the first rule of Hollywood pitches – give them something they’ve already seen a million times.  Aren’t they already making a sequel to Wild Hogs?

Anyway, I’m just bitter because no one bought my pitch for The Sexy Adventures of Chicks Pissing.  I’m not gonna lie to you bro, it was pretty erotic.  Had it all storyboarded and everything.
