Confused Twitter Users Thought That Blake Lively Married Ryan Gosling

Written by Ashley Burns / 09.11.12

I'm so confused!

Yesterday, we brought you the interesting story about the super secret wedding of Green Lantern and Van Wilder star Ryan Reynolds and actress Blake Lively that took place at the Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. That’s important to note because that’s the same place that The Notebook was filmed at and… wait, Ryan Gosling is Canadian. Ryan Reynolds is Canadian. *draws things in the air with finger, types 80085 on calculator* CANADA IS INVADING SOUTH CAROLINA!

Or probably not. My math is a little fuzzy. But if I can get confused and start developing Red Dawn level conspiracies based on a simple news story, then I’m sure that other people were probably confused, too. And I’m right, because Twitter is like a giant game of drunk telephone with someone Tweeting a random statement like “Katie Holmes bought a new pair of shoes” and it eventually being manipulated into “Kelsey Grammar invokes 4th Reich, marries dog.”

So obviously, when someone reported that Ryan Reynolds married Blake Lively at the site where The Notebook was filmed, that turned into Blake Lively married Ryan Gosling, because our generation has the attention span of… I wonder what defense to play in fantasy football this week.

Ryan Reynolds Married Blake Lively At The Mansion From ‘The Notebook’

Written by Ashley Burns / 09.10.12

By now, bros and babes everywhere have gone through significant mourning periods, with the news that leggy fox Blake Lively secretly married chiseled dude Ryan Reynolds over the weekend, despite knowing that he was in both Green Lantern and Blade: Trinity. But what a lot of sites failed to report as they came up with cute couple nicknames like BlakeNolds and RyLy was that the actual wedding ceremony took place at the very same place that The Notebook was filmed.

A source confirms to PEOPLE that the couple tied the knot Sunday night at Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., just outside of Charleston.

The reception took place in a white tent at the plantation on Sunday evening. Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine), a good friend of the Gossip Girl star, performed three songs live, and there was also a deejay who spun tunes. PEOPLE also confirmed that a cake was being driven down from Virginia for the event.

Florence from Florence and the Machine? That’s baller, yo.

As soon as I read this, I went out on the street and interviewed 100 random girls. I asked whether or not they thought it was strange that Reynolds, an actor, married his actress girlfriend at the same location that was used in filming a romantic drama that isn’t even 10 years old. The majority of them responded, “HELP! POLICE!” because I wasn’t wearing pants, so this poll was actually of no use.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think there’s cheesy and then there’s marrying a girl at a mansion that was used in a film based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. Obviously I’m not much of an expert here, because I’m a dick and I laugh at the end of The Notebook, but this is like if Channing Tatum had married Jenna Dewan at Nakatomi Plaza because, “Yo Die Hardz wuz da mutha f*ckin’ bizznomb bomb, son, WHAT.”

Twilight fans fake engagement to try on Bella’s wedding dress

Written by Vince Mancini / 11.29.11

According to an exclusive report from TMZ, a bridal boutique is selling a replica of the wedding dress Bella wore in Twilight Breaking Dawn, and, in perhaps the least surprising turn of events of all time, rabid Twilight fans are showing up at the stores and faking engagements to try the dress on. I imagine the hardest part is finding enough cats to fill out a men’s business suit. “Why yes, this is my fiancee, Mr., uh… Fluffykins.”

The $799 replica is being sold in Alfred Angelo bridal boutiques everywhere — and people who work at the chain tell us the scheming fans are driving them crazy, making it extremely difficult to conduct business. [TMZ]

So you’re saying this bridal boutique I’ve never heard of is selling a product people are absolutely going crazy for, AND you have an exclusive source close to the story??? How serendipitous! Nuts. Those lucky skunks at TMZ catch all the breaks. (*kicks can*)

Watch the elaborate, Back to the Future-themed wedding proposal

As you can see from this previous, dorktastically elaborate re-enactment of Superman II, the new coolest thing is work a popular movie into your wedding or proposal.  The only drawback is part where you have to actually get married (yuckzers!).  Not to be outdone, Google engineer Corey Goldfeder, which isn’t a nerdy name at all, planned an elaborate, Back to the Future-themed proposal. (*gets down on one knee*) Will you block quote me, Ultimate Proposal Contest?

Andrea and I met at a costume party. She was dressed in a 1950′s poodle skirt, and I came as Marty McFly from “Back to the Future”, so it was clearly a match made in heaven.

I took Andrea to a showing of “Back to the Future,” which was being presented as part of a Michael J. Fox retrospective at a film festival in a historic local theater. We had planned this date for months had tickets long in advance, which was unnecessary since the film festival didn’t actually exist.

In reality, I had rented out the theater, and the movie showing was to be the scene of a surprise proposal. The manager was a bit of a romantic, and he was happy to help with supporting details like adding “Back to the Future” to the theater’s marquee and getting someone to man the popcorn machine. About 20 friends and acquaintances of mine that Andrea didn’t know came to sit in the theater so that it wouldn’t look suspiciously empty.

BRITISH OGRES DRESS LIKE SHREK FOR WEDDING

Written by Vince Mancini / 04.23.09

Keith Green, 44, and Christine England, 40, recently hired a professional make-up artist to help them walk down the aisle as Shrek and Fiona.  Wait, two Brits dressed like Shrek were named Green and England?  (*ironic coincidence prolapse*)

Green his bride were covered in green paint and full costume and wigs and married in front of 100 guests also dressed as characters from the film, including the Donkey and the Gingerbread Man.

The new Mrs Green, a hospice nurse, of Barnstaple, Devon [this town name is a joke, right? Like Dicknipple, Iowa or Moosejaw, Sasketchawan?], said: “The idea just came to me. I knew what we would go as them because Keith looks just like Shrek. I tried to convince my teenage son to dress up as the Donkey but he wasn’t having any of it.”

Mr Green, a builder, said: “It was a very strange experience to say the least, but a thoroughly enjoyable one. We love the films and my wife tells me I have resemblance to Shrek.” [Telegraph]

The wife seems to be the only one into this idea, while the husband is just trying to get used to shrugging and not having an opinion.  “Hmm, so you’re saying I look like a big, green ogre… thanks?  Do we still get to bone later?”  I’ll agree, he is vaguely ogrish, but he’s nothing compared to Ultimate fighter Krzysztof Soszynski. Krzysztof is number one in the world at looking like Shrek.
