THIS MAKES MY BRAIN HURT

11.10.08 Written by Vince Mancini

A while back FilmDrunkard Jared sent me to the IMDB page of Not Another Not Another Movie, presumably a spoof of those Seltzer-Freebird idiots.  With no other info to go on and a cast list that included Chevy Chase, Burt Reynolds, Michael Madsen, Vinnie Jones, and Stuttering John, I assumed it was someone’s idea of a joke.  Not so, apparently.

Chase plays a studio head who quits his floundering company, leaving his ex-con sibling (Madsen) in charge. Soon their equally inept gangster friend (Jones) takes over and assigns a production assistant (David Leo Schultz) to direct a spoof of spoof movies. Reynolds plays an actor playing the director of the chaotic film within the film.

Writer-director David Murphy’s “Movie” features cameos from actors playing themselves spoofing their memorable roles, including Richard Tyson (the villian in “Kindergarten Cop”) and Wolfgang Bodison (the young African-American Marine on trial in “A Few Good Men”). Ellie Gerber, Tim Piper, Jennifer Sciole and James Duval also star. [THR]

…So it’s a spoof of spoof movies, about a guy making a spoof of spoof movies, starring actors spoofing themselves.  In the movie.  I think.  Michael Madsen was so confused by the idea that on the first day of filming he cut off Jean-Claude Van Damme’s ear and wrote a poem about it.

McLOVIN, APATOW, VINNIE JONES GET BIBLICAL

12.06.07 Written by Vince Mancini

McLovin was pretty stoked to meet God

I’m pretty sure Judd Apatow knows he can do anything he wants now and just announces crazy shit to f with people.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse [Ed Note: Gayest. Name. Ever.], best known as McLovin in the summer hit Superbad, will reunite with producer Judd Apatow for Year One, a comedy set in biblical times. Year One marks Mintz-Plasse’s second movie role. He would play a platform-shoe-wearing high priest, and [Vinnie] Jones a head palace guard named Sargon. [Hollywood Reporter]

Jack Black and Michael Cera are in it as well.  No one knows much about the plot, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that it’s gonna involve Seth Rogen playing video games with Jesus and having a hilarious “Know how I know you’re not Christ?” conversation. (‘Cause he’s Jewish, get it?  Shut up.)

VINNIE JONES AND LEO FIGHT VIKINGS?

09.13.07 Written by Vince Mancini

There's a rumor going round that Vinnie Jones and Leonardo DiCaprio are in negotiations to be in some sort of viking movie, stemming from a cryptic story in the Belfast Telegraph.  Meanwhile, I'm in negotiations with Anne Hathaway  to drop the restraining order.

Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Vinnie Jones may be filming their next movie in a small Irish village.  Tuamgraney in east Clare is lobbying the Irish Film Board and Hollywood executives to bring the multi-million dollar film to the village next year.

I hear Tuamgraney is very persuasive.  Then again, I'm not sure whether to believe any of this.  I read in National Geographic that some Irish have been known to drink.

The film in question is Freedom From Within the Heart, the story of Brian Boru, the last high king of Ireland, who drove the vikings from the emerald isle.  They wanted Ryan Philippe to play a viking, but he was wary of being typecast.
