Written by DAN OZZI / 02.22.13

The Internet nearly exploded with nerdy joy when Hulu made the Criterion Collection available for free last weekend. And sure, if you like “critically acclaimed” movies by “esteemed directors,” those films are pretty good. But what about us folk who enjoy the simpler pleasures of a cinematic trainwreck? Maybe a movie featuring an evil lizard king or a crime-fighting Santa Claus? Fortunately, there are literally dozens of Hollywood’s anti-masterpieces available for free every single day on YouTube. Here are 16 awesomely bad movies streaming in unbroken clips that you can watch right now.

SCANDAL! Tommy Wiseau may not have directed The Room

Written by Vince Mancini / 02.14.11

Tommy Wiseau’s The Room from 2003 is rightly remembered as one of the best terrible movies of all time.  But what if it turned out that Tommy Wiseau hadn’t really directed it?  Would he just be a bad-bad director?  A bad-good actor and nothing more?  That’s the shocking allegation recently leveled by script supervisor (editor’s note: LOL) Sandy Schklair, who now wants a directorial credit.  YOU’RE tearing-me-apart-the-room

In the EW article (which is not online yet) Schklair tells the story of how Wiseau met him in 2002 and asked him to not only be the script supervisor but also to “tell the actors what to do, and yell ‘Action’ and ‘Cut’ and tell the cameraman what shots to get.” Here’s the exchange, according to Schklair:

Schklair: “Umm…you want me to direct your project?”
Wiseau: “No! I am director!”
Schklair: “Yeah, you’re the director, whatever. But you want me to direct your movie for you?”
Wiseau: “Yes, please.”

Whoa, that sounds strangely like an exchange from The Room. Maybe it was more realistic than we thought.  I CUT MY EYES OUT BEFORE YOU EVER DIRECT MY FILM, YOU SON OF A BEEEETCH!!!  Oh, hi, Suzie.  Snapple?  Don’t mind if I do.

The Room’s Tommy Wiseau made a short film

Written by Vince Mancini / 10.14.10

Atom.com recently got Tommy Wiseau, director of the infamous good bad movie The Room to direct this short film, The House That Dripped Blood on Alex, because it’s always a good idea to have guys who make unintentionally funny dramas attempt intentional comedy.  Wait, am I serious or am I being ironic? (*sigh*)  …I don’t even know anymore, dude.  (*smokes clove*)

Anyway, it’s 12-minutes long and I’d love to tell you whether it’s any good or not, but about a minute into it, Joey Greco from Cheaters showed up and I had to shut down my computer so I could have it de-greased.  Ugh. Is there a more slimy, disgusting human being that guy?  Seeing him try to act is instant douche chills.  I avoid him like Cam Gigandet covered in feces.  If you need me, I’ll be taking a long, hot rape shower.

PATTON OSWALT PARODIES THE ROOM

Written by Vince Mancini / 12.01.09

The Room is one of those famous-for-being-bad movies starring a long-haired weirdo named Tommy Wiseau — you can watch the trailer after the jump.  I’ve actually never seen it, but don’t tell the cool kids.  Anyway, here’s Patton Oswalt doing a parody of it, or rather his idea of what the Tommy Wiseau production process must look like.  It’s pretty good, as are almost all things Patton.  But from what I’ve seen, as far as bad movies go, After Last Season makes The Room look like Beyond the Ring.  And don’t even get me started on Birdemic.
