Sure, Why Not. Let’s Write A Treatment For Green Lantern 2 And The Flash…

LanternDOS

Oh Hollywood, you silly little piggy bank, you. Even though Ryan Reynold’s Green Lantern film hasn’t even finished principle photography yet, that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros. execs from beginning work on its sequel. Fresh off an all-night binger, no doubt, Lantern writers Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim (Roman Catholics, I imagine) have already had their asses tapped to begin work on a treatment for part two of the Reynold’s 3D Abs Experience. In addition to Lantern, the three ring writing troop have also been asked to start treatment work on a project surrounding comic book hero The Flash, an idea that Reynolds was also once attached to. Based on the two treatments, a deal is in place for Warner Bros. to then hire the writers to pen the screenplay for whichever is green lit first.

I can’t help but imagine that Warner Bros. operates kind of like a drunken, rich college kid does when they’re at the bar. Writers approach them with small talk banter, until eventually Warner starts ordering Goldschlager shots for the entire bar and everyone gets to laugh at the fact that they just got drunk for free. Thanks bro! Where the thought of EVEN MORE Ryan Reynolds in digital pants kind of makes me fart blood, leave it to YouTube to help me find one fan who wants all the Reynolds she can get.

Warning: your pants may explode watching this fist fest.

BLAH BLAH JLA FLASH ADAM BRODY BLAH

12.05.07 Written by Vince Mancini

Oh my God I’m so sick of these…

Still more Justice League of America (JLA) casting news today, as The LA Times is reporting that Adam Brody has "closed negotiations" for the part of the Flash.  Believe it or not, I actually like Brody as an actor.  He was in Thank You for Smoking for like five minutes and stole the whole movie. And thankfully, I have reason to believe he won’t be wasting his time with this dump because…

When contacted for comment by MTV, a Warner Brothers representative echoed statements made earlier to The Times, saying that the film hasn’t yet even been greenlit. [MTV

There have already been SEVENTEEN JLA-related posts (this one’s probably the sexiest) since FilmDrunk began in August. Even if this movie ever comes out, which it won’t, it’ll be like 2012 by then and people will be so sick of hearing about it that they won’t care. Either that or we’ll all have been raped to death by rabid monkeys from the future.

FLASH MOVIE STILL PLANNED

10.29.07 Written by Vince Mancini

Word is The Flash movie’s still happening, and has picked up director David Dobkin (Clay Pigeons, Shanghai Knights, Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus – yeesh, talk about a varied career).

Dobkin’s film won’t be the character’s first appearance in cinemas, of course, with the Flash a major part of the upcoming “Justice League of America” film. But while fans wait for “JLA” story and casting announcements with bated breath, Dobkin can’t help but hold his – confirming that his movie will exist in the same universe as the upcoming flick as a direct spin-off. [MTV]

I still hold out hope that JLA will be enough of a disaster that a spinoff will be impossible.

Dobkin also said that his movie would deal with the Wally West incarnation of the Flash, which "would seem to mesh perfectly with recent rumors that “JLA” opens with Barry Allen’s funeral."  I’m not sure what that means because I’ve had sex with a woman before.  She may or may not have been awake at the time, but either way I’m still too cool for Tonka Trucks and Flash comics and shit… Mom.

RYAN REYNOLDS MAYBE PROBABLY THE FLASH

08.21.07 Written by Vince Mancini

The discrepancy between what they see in the mirror and what others see is often what causes bulimics to purge

Ryan Reynolds recently talked to MTV about his often rumored casting as The Flash.

“‘The Flash’ isn’t dead at all. There’s talk of it being a JLA [Justice League of America] movie, the Justice League having them all together. And then there’s other talk of doing a ‘Flash’ movie with [director] Shawn Levy,” Reynolds told MTV. “[it] might, yeah. I don’t really know how much I’m allowed to talk about that stuff. But I’m sure they’ll figure out something. It’s no secret that they have a JLA script and it’s a project that’s in development – the contents of which, who knows.

You know, there's only so many comic book adaptations that work on the big screen, and I don't think this is one of them.

Plus, I campaigned hard for the role of The Flash.  I told them, "I don't need the red suit, all I need's a trenchcoat and a boner."
