From Nancy Meyers, the director of Something’s Gotta Give and What Women Want comes Old People F*cking Part 3, aka It’s Complicated.  I hope it lives up to its name better than Denise Richards’ reality show, because in Denise Richards’ world, “complicated” seems to mean “hanging out on the f*cking beach drinking wine” a lot.  It must be rough being a hobo with money.  Where was I?  Oh right, the movie.  See, Meryl Streep was married to Alec Baldwin, who left her for a hot 20-something.  But now they’re having an affair, even though she’s his ex-wife, even though her architect Steve Martin also wants a piece, and yeah, mom, this looks totally hilarious and realistic too.

Maybe it’s because the original came out the year my dad graduated from high school, but I just don’t get The Pink Panther.  I like Steve Martin, but there’s really absolutely nothing about this that appeals to me.  Am I too young?  Or maybe not sophisticated enough to appreciate retarded slapstick of this caliber?  Are they being ironic?  I can’t even tell anymore.

Traitor stars Don Cheadle as a former US Special Operations officer wanted as a terrorist being tracked by Guy Pearce and Jeff Bridges Daniels.  It’s based on an idea from Steve Martin (wuzzah?) and is being directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff.

This has potential.  Cheadle’s one of the best actors around and Guy Pearce’s is no slouch, but so what.  I won a spelling bee in sixth grade and you don’t see me bragging about it all the time.

Steve Martin is back as Inspector Cloiseau in the Pink Panther 2, opening in February. The director on the project is Harald Zwart, and you’d think with a name like Harold’s Wart he’d have gotten teased a lot growing up, but he’s Dutch, and in that language even the words for "inoperable penis cancer" sound so silly you can’t help but giggle.

In related news, "The Pink Panther" is my UFC nickname.  Rawr, don’t cross my path!

The movie was written and directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (writer of The Day After Tomorrow) and is based on an idea from Steve Martin.  That’s right.  They attached Steve Martin’s name to the project and his only credit on IMDB is "(idea)".  And I bet they paid him handsomely for it, too.  Way to keep your tang game proper, Steve. – RoboPanda
