Comments of the Week: A Lil’ Box of Butters

09.27.10 Written by Vince Mancini

This week’s Comments of the Week winner wins A Lil’ Box of Butters, the collector’s edition DVD set from South Park Studios featuring 13 of your favorite Butters-centric episodes.  Have you seen the one where he writes “The Poop That Took a Pee” and becomes a best-selling author?  It’s one of my all-time favorite episodes of anything, and I’m not just saying that because I love poop and pee.  It hits stores tomorrow, and in the meantime, today is the last day to enter to win $5,000 and a bunch of cool Butters stuff.   Anyway, you came here to hear the winner, and I wouldn’t leave you with blue balls like my prude sister.  I had to give it up for Chareth Cutestory for his stunning command of bean town vernacular.  Box-of-Butters

Chareth Cutestory says: I cawl this cawk Welkah. Cause it’s fackin’ gritty and can go fackin’ deep in the slawt at any given time.  Hey Tawmy, you heah what I just said? I said-

Yeah yeah, I heard ya.

OH WHAT, YOU TOO GOOD FER MY FACKIN STORIES NOW, CAWKSUCKA? YOU DISRESPECT WES WELKAH?

[From Star Wars + The Town Mashup, I'm leavin' this whole Death Stah in my reahview, expecially da queah pahts.]

COTW: SOUTH PARK SEASON 13 ON DVD

03.15.10 Written by Vince Mancini

SOuthParkSeason13

Wow.  I told you guys to bring the heat last week if you wanted to win this South Park DVD set, and boy did you.  I’ll give you the winner up front, but just a warning, this week’s list of runners up is long and distinguished like my wang in a top hat.

Requisite Plug
“South Park: The Complete Thirteenth Season Uncensored” DVD and Blu-Ray hits stores this Wednesday (same day as the first episode of the new season) and you should buy the sh*t out of it. Never before have I been so tempted to keep a prize for myself.

All fourteen episodes from South Park’s thirteenth season are available in this exclusive three-disc set. Roll with the boys as they save the economy, the whales, and a bunch of dead celebrities, all while discovering the joys of fish sticks. For them, it’s all part of growing up in South Park!

For the first time ever, the DVD and Blu-Ray will include exclusive deleted scenes and the bonus features include “Inside Xbox: A Behind-the-Scenes Tour of South Park Studios” and free codes to unlock character and challenge levels in the “South Park: Let’s Go Tower Defense Play” game on xBox Live Arcade.  Episodes on the DVD version will be presented in widescreen format and the Blu-Ray version will be in full HD (1080p).

Boosh.  And I’ve got two of them to give away, so here are your two winners.  Thank God I didn’t have to try to choose between them.

MICKEY MOUSE IS DEAD

05.21.09 Written by Vince Mancini

Wayne Allwine, voice of Mickey Mouse since 1977, is dead of complications from diabetes at age 62.  Allwine was actually the third guy to do Mickey’s voice, after Walt Disney and Jimmy MacDonald.

Allwine’s wife, Russi Taylor, who provides the voice of Minnie Mouse, was at his side at the time of his passing. Allwine, also was an Emmy-winning sound effects editor, was the voice of Disney’s world-renowned mouse since 1977, when he first lent his familiar falsetto to animated segments for “The New Mickey Mouse Club.” [THR]

I think I’ll always remember Allwine best for the time he beat up the Jonas Brothers on South Park.  I mean, I know that wasn’t him or even the real Mickey Mouse, but the heart wants what it wants.

COMMENTS OF THE WEEK: SOUTH PARK EDITION

03.08.09 Written by Vince Mancini

Get excited, gang, I’ve got a good prize to give away this week.  And just to toot my own horn a few more times (until my car sprays all over your face), keep in mind that I could keep this stuff for myself, but I instead reserve it for you, fine commenters, just to show how much I appreciate the entertainment you all provide me.  Anyway, enough foreplay. This week I’ve got South Park Season 12 Uncensored, arriving in stores March 12th.  They have their occasional off night, but for my money, South Park is still the most consistently funny, ballsy, and subversive show on television.

As always, the way this works is, when you read a comment you think worthy of recognition, YOU nominate it by copy and pasting it in the comments section of THIS post (along with a link to the post the comment came from, pretty please).  I pick the winner from among the nominees the following Sunday/Monday. (To help you find it more easily, the nomination thread is always linked in the ABOUT section).

Let’s get this started with some new Gary Busey facts:

TREY PARKER PICKING ON MORMONS AGAIN

11.18.08 Written by Vince Mancini

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are teaming up with a writer of the puppet play Avenue Q to bring Mormon Musical to Broadway.

“Mormon Musical” will start rehearsals next month and star Cheyenne Jackson.
The new show is “hilarious – very acerbic and biting,” said Jackson, whose last Broadway show was “Xanadu.”
It deals with the lives and loves of Mormons and “offends everybody, but [also] does what ‘South Park’ does best, which is by the end, it comes around and has something great to say,” Jackson said. [NY Post]

I’m pretty wary whenever pop culture deals with Mormons because I love making fun of them, and all it would take is one or two A-holes to completely ruin it for me.  But Avenue Q is pretty much the best play ever and the Mormon episode of South Park (you can watch the full episode for free here) is one of the most honest (yet still funny) portrayals of Mormons I’ve ever seen.  Bottom line, it’s going to be a shame when they outbreed us all.  In fact, it’s a travesty that there are so many zombie movies when the Mormon invasion theme is completely untapped.  Mormons are scarier than zombies because they smile all the time and have stupid haircuts.  Plus they drink pee and consume the flesh of the unborn.  So I’ve heard.
