FilmDrunkard WWBD sent me this clip, an extended trailer for Snuff: A Documentary About Killing on Camera.  It purports to be basically the serious version of 8 MM (no Nic Cage? Megafrownies).  The major part of the trailer involves a chick identifying herself as the production manager telling a story about how while making the film, they received what appeared to be a legit snuff film.  Which would be intriguing, only the chick reeeeally seems like she’s acting.  Says a review on IMDB:

The longer of the two trailers included in the special features has Jennifer Bahe saying the filmmakers received a tape in the mail that appeared to be a snuff film, which they turned over to authorities. That sounds pretty fishy too: it’s not mentioned in the documentary at all, it’s not discussed further anywhere on the DVD. It sounds like something they made up to help sell their movie.

So… you’re making a documentary where we’re supposed to trust you to investigate an urban legend, and you try to market with an urban legend?  Seems a little sleazy, no?  Also, and I’m not making this up, the production company is called “Killing Joke Productions”.  I just know the Insane Clown Posse is behind this somehow.

The Twilight Bone, the third and hopefully final viral marketing porn spoof trailer for Snuff is online now.  The book hits stores today, and it’s probably going to sell a million copies.  Why?  Because they took the time to make fake movie trailers for a book.  In other news, Michael Madsen’s books of poetry now come with phlegm-filled handkerchiefs signed by the author’s assistant.

Other Palahniuk movie news: Choke release date has been bumped to September.

The folks behind Chuck Palahniuk’s Snuff have released another (fake) movie trailer, this time for "Chitty Chitty Gang Bang."  Yup, apparently books get viral marketing now.  Personally, I still like to rely on good ol’ word of ass to mouth.

Sorry, that was sort of a misleading headline. Actually, Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club, Choke, etc.) has a new book coming out, and they made this fake movie trailer (for "The Wizard of Ass") to promote it. It stars “Cassie Wright, star of ‘Chitty Chitty Gang Bang’ and ‘The Twilight Bone’.”

The book’s called Snuff, and I’m sure it’ll be a movie at some point. Here’s the rundown:

Cassie Wright, porn priestess, intends to cap her legendary career by breaking the world record for serial fornication. On camera. With six hundred men. Snuff unfolds from the perspectives of Mr. 72, Mr. 137, and Mr. 600, who await their turn on camera in a very crowded green room.

Darn, I was hoping it’d be about tobacco, LOL!
