The Original James Bond 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Is For Sale And Worth Every Penny

Written by Ashley Burns / 02.07.13

It still has that vintage Connery sex smell.

As a huge James Bond fanboy – we call ourselves Bondage Enthusiasts – I thoroughly enjoyed Skyfall for a number of reasons, from Javier Bardem’s insane genius villain to Judi Dench’s hot ass. But there was one particular little nugget of Bondage that jumped out at me during the intense standoff at Skyfall in the film’s final act, and that was the vintage Aston Martin DB5 that Daniel Craig’s Bond used in his trap for Bardem’s gang of killers. That car is simply one of the most iconic vehicles in movie history, and now I could actually own it!

So someone needs to give me $5 million, please.

Hollywood Sign Saved By Naked Girls and Cocaine

It brings tears of joy to my eyes any time that I get to see a group of greed-stricken individuals put their differences aside and work together in the hopes of overthrowing a rival group of greed-stricken individuals. In this case, I’m talking about Los Angeles’ biggest entertainment players, all pooling their drug money in an effort to save the iconic Hollywood sign from certain demise. Oh yeah, lest I forget, the true O.G. himself, Hugh Hefner, donated a lump sum of $900,000 to support the cause. Once again cementing his historic title as “the coolest old dude who gets chicks way hotter and younger than I ever could”.

Nearly 140 acres behind the iconic Hollywood sign will be saved from development as the result of donations from some of entertainment’s largest companies and orgs, along with a final $900,000 from Hugh Hefner that closed the gap in the $12.5 million fundraising effort.

“My childhood dreams and fantasies came from the movies, and the images created in Hollywood had a major influence on my life and Playboy,” said Playboy founder Hefner. “As I’ve said before, the Hollywood sign is Hollywood’s Eiffel Tower and I am pleased to help preserve such an important cultural landmark.” [Variety]

Take note that Hefner also previously helped rebuild the Hollywood sign back in 1978, when he held a fundraiser at the Playboy Mansion and auctioned off individual letters from the sign for $27,700 a piece. So class, what has today’s history lesson helped us all anticipate for the future? That’s right, in another forty-two years, Hollywood will be relying on the cryogenically frozen head and penis of Hugh Hefner to rescue its sign.

DARK KNIGHT: $300M IN 10 DAYS

Written by Vince Mancini / 07.28.08

A FilmDrunk reader writes of the picture, "found this little gem on the internet. consider posting it next time you talk about batman making fuckton of money."  A gem indeed.  The cartoonist truly is a modern day Thomas Nast – the bag with the dollar sign to indicate money?  Brilliant!

There isn’t a metaphor out there that can fully convey how badly The Dark Knight is destroying the box office right now.  The total is up to $312.4 million dollars domestically, meaning it reached the $300 million dollar barrier in 10 days, the fastest ever.  The previous fastest being Pirates of the Caribbean 3, which reached it in 16 days.

Studio now believes that "Dark Knight" has a shot at making north of $500 million domestically, becoming only the second film to do so after "Titanic," which grossed $600.8 million in North America. The next two top-grossing pics after "Titanic" are the original "Star Wars," which ultimately grossed $461 million domestically — including re-releases — and "Shrek 2," which made $436 million domestically.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "Holy balls."  Meanwhile this weekend, Step Brothers pulled in a respectable $30 million for the number two spot, and X-Files 2 was a big disappointment at $10.2 million, putting it at number four behind Mamma Mia.  Sources say X-Files was shooting for high teens to low 20s in its first weekend, but since it only cost $29 million to make, it will probably turn a decent profit eventually.  In other news, I bought this sportcoat off a wino for two dollars.  *pops collar, does a twirl*  I think it fits great.
