One Brave Blogger Has Finally Discovered The ‘Average Porn Star’

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.01.13

When people generally think of female porn stars, they tend to think of blonde hair like Kayden Kross up there, or they think of gigantic, cartoonish fake breasts and loads of makeup and plastic surgery. And while that may be true for some of the older actresses from your creepy uncle’s generation, today’s porn actresses have built an all new mold of their own. So much, in fact, that one man’s study of porn star demographics has revealed something quite shocking about the average adult film starlet.

The average adult film actress is a brunette with a B-cup named Nikki, at least according to blogger Jon Millward, who spent six months analyzing the demographics of 10,000 porn stars drawn from the Internet Adult Film Database. But what’s known about porn stars beyond their breast size? Remarkably little, thanks to practically zero research funding and a community wary of researchers.

“The average span of a performer’s career is usually only about six to 18 months, so the benefit of participating in these things isn’t usually apparent to the people who are in it at the time,” Kayden Kross, an adult film actress and writer, told LiveScience. (Via Mother Nature Network)

That’s an incredible revelation. Porn actresses are basically the running backs of adult films. So what else goes into this kind of “porn demographics” analysis? The results may blow you… … … r mind. Had you fooled there for a second.

Miss Delaware Teen USA Resigns After Porn Clip Surfaces

Written by Vince Mancini / 02.27.13

Another day, another person with a secret porn past. As Gawker reported last night, the recently-crowned Miss Delaware Teen USA, Melissa M. King, resigned after a video surfaced on GirlsdoPorn.com (NSFW, duh) that appears to show someone who looks a lot like King. The girl in the video says she turned 18 three months earlier and that she needs the money, just prior doing the kind of stuff people usually do in porno (pretty tame for XXX, actually, the guy even wears a condom. not that I’ve watched.). King has so far denied that the girl in the porn is her, but asking us to believe that she’s resigning because a girl in a porno just reeeally looks like her would require a Shyamalan-esque leap in logic.

In a phone interview with The News Journal on Monday, King said she was aware of the video, but denied appearing in it.
“Absolutely not,” she said. “It is not.”
Of the porn site’s claim [that the girl is her], she said: “There are comments saying this; however, it’s not comments that are true.”
Asked if the woman in the video is just someone who closely resembles her, King said, “Um, I’d rather not be talking right now, but yeah.” [DelawareOnline]

A very pageant-girl doublespeak answer. “Yes, you are correct in saying that there are comments saying this, however those are comments that are not true. So in a sense, everyone’s right. Now, let’s talk about the bigger issues, like childhood hunger.”

I always feel a little bad reporting stories like this. Of course it’s titillating, because the only thing hotter than finding out a “barely legal” porn girl is actually barely legal is knowing that a porn girl is a real person, who wears socks and eats food and has normal, wholesome hobbies like regular peoples (and I don’t mean pageantry, which is clearly perverse). I promise, if a stripper came out in a hoodie and lounging-around clothes instead of the normal stripper gear, she would absolutely clean up. That said, a big part of my enjoyment of porn is the fantasy that, for the girl in the video, the whole having-sex-on-camera thing is perfectly natural. I engage in a type of magical where I assume that me and the porno are actually helping this nice young lady find this judgment-free arena, away from the prying eyes and tutting fingers of our evil puritanical society, where she can finally be herself. Which of course involves her sharing her most intimate sexy times and willing bukakke face for our enjoyment. A story like this, where the girl characterizes the whole escapade as this big mistake that she made one time that she’s going to regret for years to come sort of punctures that bubble.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, I have the most conflicted boner right now. On a serious note, I wish her all the best. People who judge the performers in the porn we all watch are the worst kind of hypocrites.

WATCH: Amanda Seyfried becomes a porn star in ‘Lovelace’

Written by Vince Mancini / 01.21.13

You may remember a while back that Lindsay Lohan was supposedly attached to a biopic about Deepthroat porn star Linda Lovelace. That project, sadly, fell through before the crew even had a chance to experience the joy of working with a mature professional like Lindsay. Now we have Lovelace, directed by Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, and starring Lindsay Lohan’s Mean Girls co-star Amanda Seyfried. Ah, Mean Girls, remember when Lindsay was the star and Amanda Seyfried was making her debut playing the dumb chick? There’s really no better illustration of their respective career paths than this.

Anyway, Lovelace is currently looking for a distributor at Sundance, and you can watch a clip below. It features creepy Wes Bentley asking her about the first time she had sex. She talks about her vagina as a delicate flower that opens in the sun and gets all loosened up to the point that it looks like she’s about to take her top off and let the creepy guy take pictures of her. Is this how Terry Richardson does it? Anyway, it’s an inspirational story of self-acceptance that every young girl should watch.

Study Finds Porn Actresses Have Higher Self Esteem & Their Lives Are Super Great

Written by Vince Mancini / 11.27.12

The stereotype of the troubled porn star is as well-entrenched as the sad clown, or the insufferable Will Smith offspring, augmented by the long list of infamous porn star suicides, like Savannah, who killed herself after she cut her face in a car accident, or Alex Jordan, who famously addressed her suicide note to her pet parrot. But Laurence Fishburne can sleep a little easier tonight (a little) thinking about his daughter, because, according to a new study, porn actresses are actually psychologically healthier than the rest of these prude chicks who won’t even pretend to love the taste of semen. So next time you see a shaved blonde with big naturals, maybe don’t be so quick to judge.

The latest edition of the Journal of Sex Research has challenged the stereotype that porn actresses have poor self-images and a history of sexual abuse. A report suggests that porn stars have higher self-esteem, a better quality of life and body image, and are more spiritual than their non-adult entertainment counterparts.

“More spiritual?” Hmmm, how do you test for that one, by counting religious quote tattoos?

Researchers at Pennsylvania’s Shippensburg University, Texas Woman’s University and the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation compared 177 porn actresses to a sample of women matched on age, ethnicity, and marital status. Comparisons were based on sexual behaviors and attitudes, self-esteem, quality of life and drug use. Sun News reports that the actresses in the study had all been paid to work on at least one X-rated movie and ranged in age from 18 to 50. Their average career in the industry was 3.5 years.

Shippensburg? Texas Woman’s University? Come on, those aren’t real colleges, are they? Those are fake porn schools where all the students are petite 30-year-old chicks in pigtails calling themselves “barely legal.”

LA passed another dumb condoms-in-porn law

Written by Vince Mancini / 11.07.12

Back in March, the mayor of Los Angeles signed a city ordinance requiring adult performers to wear condoms on all adult shoots within the city limits that required a film permit – which was a limited restriction, since few porn shoots shot in places where they needed a permit, and could just move outside the city. But on the ballot yesterday was Measure B, a law that would extend the ordinance county wide, which ended up passing, with 55.85 percent of the vote.

The measure would require producers of adult films to obtain a public health permit from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, which could be revoked or suspended if county inspectors found on-set violations of the new law.
According to the measure, anyone on set found to be in violation of the law can be fined up to $1,000, jailed up to six months, or both, adding that each violation found will be punishable as a separate offense.
Producers would have to apply for the permits, prove they completed a training course on blood-borne pathogens and submit a plan for exposure control before they could receive a permit. [NBCLA]

The law was funded by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, who poured $1.65 million into the campaign. Their own numbers cited eight cases of adult film-related HIV infections since 2004, only half of those having contracted it during adult films. And, as far as I can tell, none having contracted it while complying with current HIV-testing standards. Some of the retarded loopholes in those standards (which basically included having an HIV test every 30 days) included that they weren’t doing it in gay porn, despite 80 percent of new HIV infections coming from the gay community. Basically, instead of strengthening enforcement of the current standards, which were working when they were enforced, they created an entirely new one, which performers are probably going to avoid by shooting somewhere else anyway. As a Californian, I can assure you, this is a perfect example of California politics in action.

Michael Weinstein, president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation which advocated for mandatory condom use, said it remains to be seen how the county plans to enforce the new law.

And remember, that’s coming from the guy who was trying the hardest to get it passed.
