Various versions of a Linda Lovelace biopic have been flouncing around town for years, including one version that was to star Lindsay Lohan (and was thus doomed from the outset) and another one that was set to star James Franco and Kate Hudson. Whatever discussions with Franco and Hudson that were going on have apparently since fallen through — I imagine a producer pulled the plug after he actually saw a picture of Kate Hudson — because now the same project, from Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, is in talks with Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard. “Hitler Youth Goes Porno,” they could call it. Hey, that’d be a great idea for a porno.

Peter Sarsgaard, who was last seen as the villain in “Green Lantern,” is in early talks to portray Lovelace’s pornographer husband Chuck Traynor.
Lovelace is the infamous star of the 1972 porn flick “Deep Throat,” which is one of the highest-grossing independent films of all time. She was just a Florida schoolgirl named Linda Boreman when she met Traynor, a would-be filmmaker who transformed her into a world-famous sex star.
After years of being victimized, Lovelace quit the business and divorced Traynor, who she accused of taking advantage of her naivete and coercing her into porn and prostitution.

“Lovelace” is expected to start production in January, the same month that helmer Matthew Wilder’s rival project, “Inferno,” is slated to go before cameras [the one that was supposed to star Lindsay Lohan at on point. -Ed]. Based on Lovelace’s autobiography “Ordeal,” [Laziest. Memoir title. Ever.] film stars Malin Akerman and Matt Dillon as Lovelace and Traynor, as well as Paz de la Huerta in a supporting role. Amanda Seyfried is almost as weird a casting choice as Kate Hudson. Lindsay Lohan at least had the looking-like-a-freckly-slut-who-smokes-a-lot part down. Seyfried could definitely pull off “wide-eyed schoolgirl,” but probably not in that the way that they mean.

The trailer for Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern has leaked a little early, but that’s nothing to hold against it.  What are you, my girlfriend?  Anyway, it starts out with Ryan Reynolds playing Hal Jordan, just your average Joe.  You know the type: hot-shot, womanizing ne’er-do-well fighter pilot with a suspiciously-hot female superior who’s always telling him to get it together.  If you’ve met one, you’ve met them all.  He may be a litte rough around the edges, but he’s gotta look good if he’s ever going to get a space alien to put a ring on it, so he takes his shirt off a lot.

On the left, a new spy photo from the set of the Green Lantern (starring Ryan Reynolds) in New Orleans (full-sized version here).  The character is the villain Hector Hammond, and believe it or not, that’s tremendously underrated dreamboat Peter Sarsgaaa’aaaaaard underneath all the makeup, despite the uncanny resemblance to Nic Cage. 

Hammond is a pathologist and son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father’s (Tim Robbins) eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor. Scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release, the Martin Campbell-directed comic book adaptation also stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, Angela Bassett, Jay O. Sanders and Jon Tenney. [ComingSoon]

Contrary to popular belief, Hector Hammond is not Pete Hammond‘s more attractive brother.  Another thing I have to take issue with is the idea that anyone with super-villain level intelligence would have a strange and terrifying appearance.  As a beautiful person, I believe that’s simply not true. I defy you to find a single shred of evidence for it.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Peter Saaaarsgåaård (great actor, check him out in Salton Sea) was in negotiations to play Ryan Reynolds-nemesis Dr. Hector Hammond in the Green Lantern.  Hammond is a psychic who got his powers from a meteor.  Meanwhile, HitFix reports that they have it on good authority (a psychic meteor, perhaps?) that Jackie Earle Haley will play Sinestro.

…Unless something drastically changes, he is in the film.
I’m not going to play a semantics game here… there is a very real difference in meaning between terms like “in talks” and “in negotiations” and “on a list,” and I’m not sure where they are in that process right now.  But I am willing to say that Haley is the guy.  He just wrapped up some additional shooting on “Nightmare” for the studio, and they’re said to be extremely happy with his work in the film.  The groundwork is being laid in the first “Lantern” for a much larger role for Sinestro later on if this first movie does well, and they like the idea of continuing their relationship with Haley.

If you guessed that a character named “Sinestro” isn’t a gentle Inn keeper or kindly retard wrangler, you’d be right.
