Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo May Reprise Their Roles In Rebooted ‘Vacation’

Written by Josh Kurp / 03.28.13

In news that will delight fans of Old Navy commercials and enrage National Lampoon’s Vacation purists, who feel that the series ended perfectly with 1997′s Vegas Vacation, and to do another movie would be like pissing on Randy Quaid’s legacy the way Canada did to…Randy Quaid, Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo are in talks to reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold in the rebooted Vacation.

The new version of the Griswolds’ Vacation adventures will follow grown-up son Rusty (Helms), who now has his own family misadventures on the road, which includes making a pit stop to see his mom and dad. Though the roles are more on the cameo level, there was concern when it wasn’t clear whether Chase and D’Angelo would return to the franchise they started 30 years ago. After the budget was set and script was given a polish, the producers redoubled their efforts to include them in the reboot. (Via)

If the rumor proves true, Brown Sugar and Chase, a.k.a. Racist Old Man on Community, will join The Office‘s Ed Helms (Rusty) and Up All Night‘s Christina Applegate (Rusty’s wife) in John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein’s NBC Thursday night love-fest. So, by the powers vested in me by the state of Wanting to See Vince Explode, Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza will play Audrey #17.

At least they don’t need a new Christie Brinkley.

National Lampoon’s Vacation reboot to be directed by the Horrible Bosses guys

Written by Vince Mancini / 02.28.12

The studio has entered negotiations to hand the reins of the project to John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the team behind the Vacation script, as well as the New Line hit Horrible Bosses and the studio’s upcoming Horrible Bosses 2 and Burt Wonderstone.
Daley and Goldstein’s Vacation script, first set up in 2009, plays like both a sequel and a reboot of the franchise that began with the 1983 Harold Ramis-directed comedy National Lampoon’s Vacation and continued with European Vacation, Christmas Vacation and Vegas Vacation. A now grown-up Rusty Griswold, the son of the Chevy Chase character in the original series, experiences a misadventure with his own family.

What a coincidence, “Miss Adventure” was my nickname in high school! I ordered a Rusty Griswold from a hooker once, but told me her shitter was full! (*runs lap around studio high-fiving audience members*) Thank you, thank you, oh no you folks are too kind! I’ll be here all week, don’t forget to try your servers, tip the veal! Hey! And how come you never see a brother be puttin’ his kids on time out?? Only time out MY momma took, was time out for an ass whoopin’! You feel me? HOO! HOO! HOO! Hold on, I’m getting a call ….Hello, Jake Show Business? Well of COURSE I’ll fly to LA on your private jet! Beluga caviar only, please, Ossetran makes me gassy.
