‘WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE’ UPDATE

02.25.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Birthday Dog loves Wild Thing parties

It’s looking like reports that Where the Wild Things Are would be completely re-shot were premature.  Collider has this report:

Spike is not getting replaced as director, Warner Bros. is not reshooting the entire movie, and we will see – at some point – [a] Spike Jonze [directed] “Where the Wild Things Are.” I’ve been told that the movie is doing reshoots and that they’ll be done here in the Los Angeles area. I’ve also been told that Spike is directing them and they’re mostly being done to fix the animation of the Wild Things and to address a few problems with the script. Basically, all the usual stuff that comes up when you make a movie.

So there you have it.  Rest easy, spaz.  But wait!  The same source has an update:

I can’t speak for what happens in the future, but when I wrote the story below it appeared to be 100% accurate based on information from more than one credible source. All I can say is that after a few phone calls tonight from other close sources to the production, I’m less optimistic about what I originally wrote. Take that as you will.

So uh, basically we’re back to no one really knowing anything.  Anyway, I prefer to know things only in the biblical sense.  And by “things” I mean “really drunk chicks.”

NEW WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE PIC

12.12.07 Written by Vince Mancini

As any of my neighbor’s children will tell you, I’m a virile, virile man.  But I save my strongest, meatiest nerd boners for Where the Wild Things Are, Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers’ adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s classic book.

The film will feature voice work by Lauren Ambrose (who replaced Michelle Williams a short while back – solid decision), Catherine Keener, James Gandolfini, and Forest Whitaker.

The seven creatures are expected to be portrayed by actors in tall suits, while their faces will be computer generated. [JoBlo]

According to /film, "Those who have seen really early test screenings of the movie are saying that the film is ‘Not for children.’"

And even if it were for children it doesn’t matter, because it’s not coming out until October 2008, and we’ll all be old by then.  *sigh* waiting is for poor people.
