We’re back minus Ben this week, who’s in Tokyo, but we brought back fan favorite, SF comedian Matt Lieb to pick up the slack. Film.com’s Laremy Legel is present in spirit, as I read a statement from him about After Earth. This week’s topics include a lengthy discussion of 6 Fast 6 Furious, stories from my recent Mexico trip and all the hookers I met there, Bret saw Side Effects and The Ambassador, and Matt Lieb relates his fathers’s advice shortly after 9/11 – “the best time to buy stocks is when there’s blood in the streets.”  Enjoy.

Thanks to everyone who donated to the Kickstarter. I’m so very afraid. Check out Frotcast.com to sponsor the ‘cast or for even easier commenting.

This week on the Frotcast, we bring on one of our favorite guests, San Francisco comedian Matt Lieb (@Lieb123456789), one half of the “Louv it or Lieb it” comedy duo along with Matt Louv. We answer your listener emails, discuss the local comedy scene, wonder what happened to Sinbad, and Matt tells us stories about hanging out with Third Eye Blind’s Stephen Jenkins (which leads to roughly the amount of impromptu singalongs you would expect).

Seriously though, the time flew by, and if you’ve never suggested the Frotcast to a friend, hey, maybe this is the week! Spread the love around!

Frotcast 110: Dark Knight Rises and More with Matt Lieb

This week on the Frotcast, SF comedian Matt Lieb drops by. We play a clip of Joe King’s test podcast in which Joe tries to figure out which J. Lo movie his mom likes and which anime show involves “a little Asian boy on roller skates who solves crime.” We’ve got new clips of Aaron Sorkin hating the internet on the Newsroom, Matt tells us how he started shooting heroin when he was 16, and we talk about The Dark Knight Rises, which, incredibly, all five of us have seen. We bring up Armond White’s article, which makes a couple good points about the culture’s infatuation with sociopathic characters, even while completely crapping on itself with terrible ones. We let Bret talk for a while. Then we let Fake Bret talk for a while. We discuss Tony Robbins and his giant wallet teeth. Somehow we end up talking about bloodfeathers, which starts as a feather that can kill a peacock and turns into a Twilight character who is Renesmee’s nemesis. Brendan does a palsied Michael Caine impression. A lot. We talk about Twilight. We talk about Kristen Stewart and what a slutty little cheater she is. I try to explain about the Shrek-looking British chick that always makes Twilight videos. That about covers it.

COME TO MY COMEDY SHOWS! July 31st! August 11th with Jerrod Carmichael! August 30th WITH JOE KING! November 3rd or 11tth, live Frotcast in Chicago.

This week on the Frotcast, local comic Matt Lieb shows up to help us discuss Big Money Rustlas, a Juggalo western, and probably the best movie ever made about cowboys who wear clown makeup and call each other “muthafacko.” We listen to how much you all hated last week’s show, run down a few news stories, including Amber Tamblyn’s fairly epic punking of Tyrese Gibson, and Matt tells us about having to read his comedy notebook aloud to Israeli security (great story).

Then we bring on Laremy Legel of Film.com to tell us about John Carter and 21 Jump Street, as well as discuss The Sitter and Project X with me, which leads to some clips from Todd Phillips’ 1998 documentary Frat House.

Join me after the jump for more extensive notes from Adam, plus, “Frotcast: The Play,” by Emmet, one of the funnier emails we’ve received.
