RUFFALO DEATH RULED SELF INFLICTED

12.10.08 Written by Vince Mancini

The suspect arrested in the shooting death of Mark Ruffalo’s brother Scott has been released, and the shooting ruled an accident caused by Ruffalo playing with the gun.

Attorney Ronald Richards said he presented evidence to detectives during a five-hour meeting Tuesday night that proved Adham did not shoot Scott Ruffalo early Dec. 1. He said Ruffalo’s gunshot wound to the head was self-inflicted — that Adham was essentially a witness to a game of Russian Roulette.

“This was an accidental shooting by someone that plays with guns,” Richards said. He credited police with being “more than impartial with the facts.”

Richards said Adham, a friend of Scott Ruffalo’s, had gone to the hairdresser’s condo to retrieve keys to her sport utility vehicle, then fled the scene.

“A series of wrong decisions starting with her not staying at the scene of the shooting caused an incredible chain reaction of stupidity and bad luck,” Richards said. He said she received poor legal advice from other attorneys before her surrender. [Yahoo]

Well that’s good.  I mean, not good, but for some reason, a guy that accidentally shoots himself doesn’t seem nearly as bad news as him getting shot “execution style”.  In related news, Nick Nolte recently improved his lifetime Russian Roulette record to 76-3.

Meanwhile, here’s some video of the lesser known game, Peruvian Roulette.

WELL THIS IS CRAPPY NEWS

Sometimes stuff happens that really ruins your day, but I sort of have to report it anyway.  Like Mark Ruffalo’s brother, who was shot last week.  He died late last night.

Two people wanted for questioning about the shooting had surrendered themselves to police earlier Monday.

Shaha Mishaal Adham was suspected of shooting Scott Ruffalo, and authorities had issued an attempted murder arrest warrant for the 26-year-old. Brian Scofield was being held on a misdemeanor traffic warrant.

Well that just sucks.  I have nothing to contribute to this, really.  It’s time like these I wish I was Morgan Freeman, who’s always there with sage advice and a soothing voice.

MARK RUFFALO’S BROTHER GOT SHOT

12.04.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Scott Ruffalo, brother of actor Mark (Zodiac, Collateral), was shot in the head at his condo in Beverly Hills Monday morning, and is currently in very serious condition at an LA hospital.

According to sources, the shooting occurred at about 1:40 a.m. at the building where Scott Ruffalo lived on North Palm Drive. Police would not say who was involved. Scott, 39, is a hairdresser who has worked in salons in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills and has held a California state cosmetology license since 1991. Like his brother Mark, Scott was born in Kenosha, Wis., before moving with his family to San Diego. [People]

More:

Scott was found with a gunshot wound to the back of his head on Monday in Beverly Hills.  The report refers to the shooting as “execution-style”.

Also:

TMZ reports that the “suspicious shooting” occurred in Scott’s Beverly Hills apartment, which means that a suicide attempt or accident has not yet been ruled out.

Well shit, that just sucks the wind out of your sails, doesn’t it.  I can’t really make a joke about a guy getting shot in the head, so I’m just gonna change the subject.  Children’s entertainer Banjo the clown fell from his stilts at a recent performance, swallowing his bike horn and impaling his rectum on a coke bottle.  He’s recuperating at an area hospital and is currently listed in hilarious condition.

WATCH THIS TRAILAH YA FACKIN QUEAHS

What Doesn’t Kill You bills itself as the true story of director Brian Goodman, who co-wrote the film with Paul Murray and Donnie Wahlberg.

Hawke and Ruffalo play childhood friends Paulie and Brian, who are forced to survive on the tough streets of South Boston through a life of petty thievery. They join a local gang of criminals, but Brian finds it hard to reconcile his work and friendship with Paulie and his relationship with his wife (Amanda Peet) and son.

I’m excited for another Boston gangster picture, but I’m disappointed about the accents.  They seem much less realistic than in The Depaaahted or Mystic Rivah.  Also, if this is the guy’s life story, where’s the part about how he moved to Hollywood to become an actor?  Hey yous queahs, what I really want is to fackin direct ovah heah. Hey, ahn’t you da guy from New Kids on da Blawk? I think the full title should be What Doesn’t Kill You Gives You Mad Street Cred, or What Doesn’t Kill You Ingratiates You to the Wahlbergs.

WHY WON’T MICHELLE WILLIAMS GO AWAY?

12.06.07 Written by Vince Mancini

You guessed it, still piss

Joining the cast of Martin Scorsese’s Dennis Lehane adaptation, Shutter Island, alongside Leo DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, and Mark Ruffalo; will be Dawson’s Creek’s most annoying former resident Michelle Williams.

Michelle Williams is another one of those Hollywood people whom I have no idea how she gets work. Watching her act, you picture the director yelling, “Okay, you just chugged a pint glass full of urine.”

The worst part about her is she’s always showing up in projects that I’m all excited about.  Besides this, a Scorsese/Lehane movie which you couldn’t pay me to not see, she was recently dropped from Where the Wild Things Are (great decision), and will be appearing in the Charlie Kaufman*-directed Synecdoche, New York. (The only explanation I can think of is after making Nic Cage look like a great actor and Jim Carrey look like he can pick the right project, he still needed a challenge).

Goddammit!  Stay out of my life, Michelle Williams!  Oh, and the dog from Summer School called, he wants his glasses back.  And his face.  In fact, can we just trade you for the dog?  The dog at least seems capable of enjoying himself.
