Tyler Perry’s Oprah video is ‘so funny!!!’ according to Tyler Perry

Written by Vince Mancini / 04.05.13

This morning I received an email telling me: “You have got to see Tyler Perry’s Madea looks for OWN in The Color Purple. This is so funny!!!”

The email came from Tyler Perry himself, so I figured it must be true. After all, Tyler Perry has never steered me wrong on comedy before, especially as it relates to the comedy of Tyler Perry. Why should this be any different? I mean a MAN, dressed as a WOMAN? Who ever heard of such a thing! Haha, LOL!

Must Watch Mash-Up: Tyler Perry’s Alex Cross In Madea’s The Family That Slays

Written by Ashley Burns / 10.26.12

Before Vince’s favorite baseball team knocked America’s favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals, out of the playoffs, I got to watch TBS a little more than just for Seinfeld reruns, and I noticed that Tyler Perry has yet another show debuting on the “Very Funny” network. Judging by the one commercial that I watched before I could successfully roll over and find the remote, Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse is a show about a woman who sets her husband’s car on fire and he just laughs about it because women, right?

But that’s pretty much par for the course in Tyler Perry’s world, which is shielded from criticism and hatred by the O(prah)-zone layer, as well as the hundreds of millions of dollars that he rakes in for dressing as a woman. Yet we should give him credit for trying to escape that bubble and proving to all of us haters that he can be so much more with his turn as Alex Cross in Alex Cross, the man you can’t cross. Of course, everyone pretty much hated that movie, which is why today’s mash-up movie trailer is so spectacular.

The fine folks at Buddy System uploaded this trailer for a new, more Tyler Perry-esque version of Alex Cross, and I would absolutely pay $15 to see it.

Oogieloves filmmaker inspired by people yelling at the screen during Tyler Perry movies

Written by Josh Kurp / 08.30.12

Before today, I had never heard of The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, but much like Val Kilmer once he realized that, why yes, pizza crust stuffed with glazed doughnuts does taste good, now that I know about Oogieloves, I can’t stop thinking about doughnut-crust pizza, I mean, Oogieloves. Big Ballon Adventures is a kids movie that comes out tomorrow starring a collection of every child’s favorite actors, including Toni Braxton, Christopher Lloyd, Chazz Palminteri, Cloris Leachman, and Cary Elllllwwwweeeessss. The plot:

On Schluufy’s birthday, the Oogieloves (Goobie, Zoozie, and Toofie), and their friends J. Edgar, Windy Window, and Ruffy, work on organizing a party. Everything is going as planned until J. Edgar trips and loses the last five magical balloons in all of Lovelyloveville, prompting The Oogiloves set out to find the magical balloons in time for the party.

Contrary to popular belief, those aren’t just a random assortment of letters thrown together haphazardly, but actual, honest to God words. Good for J. Edgar finally finding a new career, too; here I was thinking being dead for 30 years would have stopped him. And hey, he even finally gets to dress up in public. Speaking of dressing up: you’ll never guess the person who inspired the Oogieloves, unless you’ve already read the headline…

This Week in Posters and Stills: Apatow characters be poopin’, Madea gets Levy

Written by Vince Mancini / 05.09.12

Knocked Up Number Two!

Here’s the first poster for Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up spinoff, This is 40, starring Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd (trailer here). If I’m not mistaken, this image is a reverse of the scene in Knocked Up where Leslie Mann is taking a dump while Paul Rudd brushes his teeth. And then of course there’s the famous poop scene in Bridesmaids, a scene supposedly championed by Bridesmaids producer, you guessed it, Judd Apatow. Because to Judd Apatow, marriage means someone’s always taking a poop.

Though the iPad part does hit a little close to home. Does the iPad have a taking-a-dump setting where you can hold it flat on your lap without the picture trying to reorient? It really should. “iPad: It’s the shitter newspaper of the future!”

‘Madea’s Witness Protection’ will probably just be a ripoff of Larry the Cable Guy’s Witless Protection

Written by Vince Mancini / 02.01.12

Madea’s Witness Protection. Oh yeah, that’s happening. Boom, you just read that.

Lionsgate has today announced plans to re-team with Tyler Perry for Madea’s Witness Protection, the 14th collaboration between the talent and the studio in seven years.

14 movies in seven years?  My gosh, makes the fact that he’s able to achieve such unbelievable depth and originality all the more impressive, doesn’t it?

Eugene Levy (American Pie, Best in Show) will star as George, a high level CFO at the center of a Ponzi scheme in New York City who is enrolled in the Witness Protection program along with his family in the one place that absolutely no one will think to look for them: Madea’s house down South.

Dorky Jewish guy plus sassy black sista, a classic comedy combo! It’s like Sinbad’s Houseguest meets Queen Latifah’s Bringing Down the House meets Big Momma’s House. Oh, and did I mention the press release includes an “official statement” from Madea herself? Because oh hell to the yeah it does. HALLELUJER! GOOD AFTERNOONT!
