CALLING ALL PORKER… ER, PARKOURS…

06.17.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Writer Luc Besson (writer/director of The Professional) and director Patrick Alessandrin are set to begin production next month on District B14, sequel to 2004′s parkour flick District B13.  The studio has put out an open casting call for parkour lovers everywhere.

The beauty of parkour is that when it’s done right (see David Belle from District B13 above), it looks awesome.  And when it’s done wrong (see all the clips after the jump)… it’s even more awesome.  It’s like soccer, only the Euros writhing in pain aren’t faking it.

LIAM NEESON WANTS HIS DAUGHTER BACK

02.05.08 Written by Vince Mancini

This is the trailer for Taken, starring Liam Neeson and that blonde chick from Lost, the only character that was almost as annoying as the other blonde chick.

A former spy (Neeson) relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter (Maggie Grace), who has been forced into the slave trade.

It was directed by Pierre Morel who did District B13 and written by Luc Besson of The Professional and The 5th Element fame.  I don’t know if this will be anything like The 5th Element, but I do think it’d be really sweet if the Dallas Cowboys were renamed Corbin Dallas.  I just don’t think the other football teams could handle 11 dudes sporting bleached-haired Bruce Willis helmets.

Also, The 5th Element is kind of a ripoff of Captain Planet, because if you think about it, in the end, the fifth element was really heart.

VAN DAMME BIOPIC?

10.15.07 Written by Vince Mancini

Over the weekend, one of the fine fellows at CityofFilms sent me this clip, which is apparently a "pre-sell teaser" for JCVD, an actual Van Damme biopic about that’s being produced by Luc Besson’s company.

In the clip, which is supposed to be funny, Van Damme shows up to a fictional casting call to campaign for the part of himself, and delivers lines like "Love is like milk when you get a coffee."

The clip is a lot like a Van Damme movie, in that it has some classic lines, is three times as long as it needs to be, and you spend the whole time watching it wondering why everyone seems to be afraid of Jean Claude Van Damme, who’s basically a Belgian ballet dancer.  I’d rather see thunderdome between him and Topher Grace.  Or possibly the clip of him getting a boner on live TV (after the jump).
