According to Variety, the long-rumored Land of the Lost movie adaptation with Will Ferrell has finally been given the greenlight by Universal – with a $100 million dollar budget.

Created by the great Sid and Marty Krofft, the show followed the adventures of a father, son, and daughter who become trapped on an alien world inexplicably filled with stop-motion dinosaurs, cavemen, and strange (poorly realized), aggressive alien creatures called Sleestaks. [CinemaBlend]

I’ll be honest, I hadn’t heard of a Sleestak before the Nerf Herder song about it, but watching the intro to the original show gives me hope.  Although the $100 million dollar budget scares me.  I think it’d be funnier with a $100,000 budget. One need only watch an old Devo video to realize what one can accomplish with a green screen, $5, and a lot of drugs.  (sigh) Key-tars rule.

Anyway, it’s nice to see someone giving Will Ferrell ideas to play around with.  And "Poofy hair and basktball clothes" aren’t really "ideas" persay.  For some classic Ferrell, see "The Devil Can’t Write a Love Song" , after the jump.
