This Week in Posters: The Rock is Still Super Buff

Written by Vince Mancini / 04.04.13

First up on This Week in Posters, Brad Pitt in World War Z. I think I heard the new tagline for this somewhere, but it must’ve been too long to fit on the poster:

It’s not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns, and we turn with it. Plans disappear. Dreams take over. But wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. Zombies. Inevitable.

I think that was how it was supposed to go.

This Week in Posters: See? I told you Pacific Rim was just like Robot Jox

Written by Vince Mancini / 03.28.13

This week sees two new posters for Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim, including this one for the Chinese “jaeger,” Crimson Typhoon. So basically, we can infer that each country has poured their respective resources into separate, nationally-sponsored giant robots. Just like Robot Jox. Only in this case, instead of fighting each other, the robots fight a giant Godzilla monster. This synopsis is truly everything I could ever want or hope for in a movie.

Oh, and stick around till the end, we’ve got lots of Channing Tatum-in-White House Down Photoshops, which are my favorite.

‘Game On C*cksuckers’: It’s The Red Band Trailer For Kick-Ass 2

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.13.13

Kick-Ass 2 will hit theaters on August 16, and that is not soon enough. It should be today. F*ck that, it should be yesterday. It should be every day until my eyes and brain hold an intervention for me to get me to stop watching it, because based on the red band trailer that hit the cat tubes today, this movie is going to be incredible.

Check out the trailer after the jump, as our best friend in the whole wide world, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, becomes the evil supervillain The Motherf*cker. Also, Jim Carrey. Jesus. Someone get his Academy Award ready. Seriously, if you don’t laugh at “Yeah, there’s a dog on your balls”, well, I’m afraid you might be dead.

This Week in Posters and Stills: Iron Man 3, Pain and Gain

Written by Vince Mancini / 01.31.13

Strap in, kids, we’ve got an abundance of posters to savor this week. First up, Iron Man 3. I’ll be honest, it sort of bums me out how excited grown adults get every time a comic book character so much as farts on celluloid. I mean, I like plenty of comic book movies (possibly more than half, even) it’s just the automatic excitement of it. It seems like a weird form of brand loyalty. Anyway, I like this poster fine, I’m just not that into the idea of a third Iron Man after the last one. Is this one just going to be Robert Downey flexing at the camera shouting “I’m Robert Downey, bitch!” while he bangs supermodels? The first one was fun, but let’s face it, Iron Man is kind of like the Entourage of superhero movies.

I call this pose the Angry Upside-Down Jesus. My girlfriend and I tried the Angry Upside-Down Jesus once, but we didn’t have the right sized railroad spikes.

This Week in Posters & Stills: A German Shepard in a Mask

Written by Vince Mancini / 01.25.13

Look, I’ve learned a few things about this blogging game, and one lesson I didn’t miss was that if you’ve got a picture of a dog in mask, you lead with that. So this is a still from Kick-Ass 2, featuring Jim Carrey as “Colonel Stars and Stripes.” Matthew Vaughn isn’t directing this one  – Jeff Wadlow, who directed Never Back Down, is – which makes me very skeptical. But if its got dogs in superhero costumes? It’s a start.

Captain Ameridog keeps his identity a secret so his enemies can’t go after his bitches.
