NO MEAT ON THE CHEESEBURGER PHONE

03.19.08 Written by Vince Mancini

This is a little parody called Jewno, written by Daily Show writer Rob Kutner… it’s pretty self-explanatory.

It’s filled with all sorts of offensive Jewish stereotypes, like that Jewish people are smart, Jewish people are ambitious, they go to Jewish schools, have “bar mitzvahs”, eat Jewish foods, spin "dradles" and use all sorts of Yiddish words – the most hateful generalizations.   I mean, it’s nice to finally see some Jewish people in comedy, but at what cost?

THE RAINN WILSON AUDITION TAPES

02.27.08 Written by Vince Mancini

In case you didn’t watch the Independent Spirit Awards* this weekend… ha, who am I kidding, no one watches the Independent Spirit Awards.  Anyway, Rainn Wilson made some fun audition tapes for all the Best Picture nominees.  Here’s one from Juno.

/Film has the rest of them, but this one’s probably the funniest. It’s also the shortest. Coincidence? Naw, couldn’t be.

*Even the name makes it sound like a consolation prize, doesn’t it?  Hey, don’t cut yourself little goth girl.  It’s not that no one likes you, it’s that you’re just a, um… such an… independent spirit! Yeah, that’s it.  People just don’t relate to you because you’re so unique!  Now chin up, fatty.

Hey, you know what’d be a good name for a suicidal goth chick?  Rainn.

I still say I liked Wilson best on Six Feet Under.

DIABLO CODY NAKED

Diablo Cody vs Paul Haggis in \'Who Wore it Better?\'

In what may be today’s most shocking news item, someone uncovered naked pictures of former stripper Diablo Cody.

From completely nude to covered in whipped cream, riding the stripper pole to photoshopped topless boating, vibrators to nipple rings, these pics definitely show a different side of Diablo Cody than you may have seen on Oprah. My personal favourite: Diablo holding a Klingon Batleth! Also featured, the morning after her Oscar win.

Holy crap, a stripper naked?  What’s next, pictures of the pope shitting in the woods?  Anyway, you can check out the pictures in question here

She doesn’t look more or less skanky than the next stripper, but I gotta be honest with you – I hate strip clubs.  There, I said it.  A roomful of hot chicks who care only about my money?  OMG, where do I sign up?  I have plenty of porn that I don’t have to pay by the dance.  And the internet never kicked me out for wearing sweatpants.

DIDDLEY DUR-HEY, BRAN

02.14.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Today the always great SomethingAwful has the "leaked" screenplay that they "found" for Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody’s next movie, "Quotey" (the quotes means it’s a joke script, people).

I’ll post the first page (click on the thumbnail below), but make sure you go over there to check out the rest.  Enjoy!

EGGHEADS DISSECT BABIES

01.21.08 Written by Vince Mancini

With the success of Knocked Up, Juno, and Waitress (they had to throw that last one in there so there’d be three), it was inevitable that the academics would get into the mix and tell us what we love about baby movies.

"This is a sea change," says Leonard Maltin, film historian [Ed Note: Haa!] for Entertainment Tonight. "It reflects what’s going on in the world, which is that women no longer need to feel like victims, even if something as dramatic as this has happened. For decades the very phrase ‘unwanted pregnancy’ was a synonym for soap opera. There was no question what kind of film you were going to see: It was going to be weepy. That has changed enormously. We’re now open enough in our willingness to deal with it and show that we can even laugh at it. These attitudes are in the zeitgeist, and the smarter, hipper movies tap into that."

Zeitgeist, dammit. My gratuitous big-word money was on Schadenfreude.

"It reflects a shift in morality and acceptance of young women who are not married having sex lives," says Jeanine Basinger, lesbian chair of film studies at Wesleyan University and author of The Star Machine. "There is a difference in the cultural climate. The acceptance of keeping and raising a child if you’re unmarried, or meeting and choosing the adoptive parents and discussing it openly, is a modern phenomenon."

They go on like this for a while.  I’m just a little annoyed none of these movies choose abortion.  I think today’s young ladies need to know abortion is still a viable option.  Or “miscarriage”, as it’s known in my hometown.
