BEYONCE STILL NOT AN ACTRESS

11.05.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Uh, I’m here for the gangbang?

Cadillac Records just released a trailer.  The story of Chess Records, it features Beyoncé as Etta James, Adrien Brody as Leonard Chess, Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters, and Mos Def as Chuck Berry.  Beyoncé still can’t really act, but she does do that black girl neck thing a lot.  I wish I could do that.

CADILLAC RECORDS POSTER IS BRODY-LICIOUS

11.03.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Cadillac Records opens December 5th, and now it has a poster (click the thumbnail below for full size).  Apparently there aren’t any black actresses in Hollywood so they keep having to use singers.  Doot, da-doot da-doot da-doot, doot da-doot doot, da-doot da-doot…

UPDATE: You can thank Michelle for directing us to this truly disturbing Tori Amos video starring Adrian Brody, or at least Adrian Brody’s face and arm.

TEASER FOR OLIVER STONE’S ‘W’

07.28.08 Written by Vince Mancini

George Thorogood?  George Thorogood?!!  See, this is exactly what I was worried about when I heard Oliver Stone was directing a movie about George W. Bush.  Yes, W is an asshole, but he’s not an asshole because he was a hard-drinkin’, womanizing good ol’ boy whose life story is worthy of a George Thorogood song.  The guy was a male cheerleader for Yale, not a West Texas armadillo salesman.  George W’s an asshole because he attended only the douchiest, most sheltered northeastern private schools his entire life.  If he were 30 years younger, he’d probably be playing competitive Quidditch right now.  Yet Oliver Stone brilliantly plays right into the bogus cowboy image he spent his entire career trying to sell.  Guess what: if you’re a male cheerleader for Yale, you can’t be a cowboy.  In fact, the closest you’re probably ever going to come is feeling saddle sore.

JOSH BROLIN ACCUSED OF METHOD ACTING

07.14.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Pictured: A couple good \'ol boys, never meanin\' no harm.

Josh Brolin, Jeffrey Wright and five other members of the crew of Oliver Stone’s W were arrested after a bar fight in Schreveport, Louisiana Saturday morning. Brolin plays George W. Bush in the film, Wright Colin Powell.

Shreveport police Sgt. Willie Lewis said the seven were arrested just after 2 a.m. at the Stray Cat bar. The Times of Shreveport reported that Brolin was booked and posted $334 cash bond to be released. Police did not say Saturday night whether he or the others had been released. [CNN]

Reportedly, the fight began when, after getting his dinner from a garbage can, Brolin had a shoe thrown at him by a mean old man. …Get it? Because they were at the Stray Cat bar? Whatever, I was already leaving.

A likely scenario is that Wright got into an argument with the Louisiana locals about the Tony Award he won for Angels in America.  Many are still bitter about him beating out Larry Bryggman for his portrayal of Howard Bevans in Picnic.  You know how worked up they get about theater in the south.
