JACK BLACK OUT OF TODD PHILLIPS MOVIE

06.12.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Jack Black has dropped out of Todd "I’m here for the gangbang" Phillips‘ comedy Man-Witch

The studio confirmed that Black will not star in the film, which centers on a man who discovers he’s got witchlike abilities and ends up teaching little girl witches-in-training.
An insider said conflict arose between the studio and Black’s Endeavor agent, Sharon Sheinwold. Other sources attributed the parting of ways to bad blood between Phillips and Endeavor. [Variety]

Either way, the move has historical significance for being the first time Jack Black has ever turned down a Manwich.  Ha ch-cha-cha-cha!

J.D. SALINGER HATES INDY, STILL ALIVE

04.29.08 Written by Vince Mancini

You\'re the man now, dog.

Ebay is currently auctioning a letter written in 1981 by legendary Catcher in the Rye author J.D. Salinger to a woman with whom he had an affair.  Some of the highlights of the letter:

Have of ten gone to the desk to converse, talk with you, inquire warmly of the state of your Bowels, but nothing has come of it.

You might think it strange that he capitalized Bowels, but you haven’t met this broad… Anyway, the reason the letter is worth mentioning on a movie site is Salinger’s assessment of recent films.

Have seen no good movies, except The Last Metro, which wasn’t exactly indelibly fine, but Deneuve herself maybe was, or came close. [Boosh? –Ed.]  I got hooked into seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark, which might be excused for its unwitty, unfunny awful socko-ness if it had been put together by Harvard Lampoon seniors.

Ouch – I just checked and yep, I’m pretty sure that’s a burn.  A history burn.  Reached for comment, Raiders director Steven Spielberg reportedly shot back, “Oh yeah? Well, let’s just say there’s a reason he didn’t call the book Pitcher in the Rye, if you catch my drift…”

LEGEND OF ZELDA TRAILER!!1!1 (!!!)

04.01.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Oh boy, another April Tools Day stunt.  This time, IGN spent enough money to finance a trip for two to Tahiti and a suitcase full of blow, on this trailer for The Legend of Zelda. Ha! And you probably thought it was real for five seconds!  Oh my God, bro, they just totally drank your milkshake and then served you and burned down your rec center!

When someone in Hollywood decides this is a great idea and greenlights it, I’m driving down to IGN and punching everyone there in the nuts.

TODAY’S UNINTENTIONALLY FUNNY HEADLINE

03.20.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Today’s unintentionally funny headline comes from Entertainment Weekly.

Poor Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglas, there was a time when I would’ve tapped her for sexual pleasure.

Hi, I’m 15.

BOONDOCK SAINTS SEQUEL

03.18.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Thanks to Peter over at /Film, I’ve got the hot tip on the supposed Boondock Saints sequel.

Saints writer/director Troy Duffy [Ha, more like Troy Puffy.  That's a burn. -Ed.] left the above message on YouTube yesterday, announcing that Sony has greenlit a sequel, which will include the original cast minus Willem Dafoe and will begin shooting Summer 2008.  Of course, keep in mind this is Troy Duffy talking, so take everything with a grain of salt.  But if he’s to be believed, this is good news to stoned frat guys all over southern California.

The video is also noteworthy for being the first thing Duffy’s ever shot not in slow motion.
