Opening June 20th, Get Smart stars Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, The Rock, and Alan Arkin. 

Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 (Carell) for CONTROL, battles the forces of KAOS with the more-competent Agent 99 (Hathaway) at his side. 

Ha, more like Agent 69!  Or Agent 79! (Right, 79? I don’t know, whichever number implies she’s bent over a toilet.  I’m just old fashioned like that). 

Written by the guys who wrote Failure to Launch and directed by the guy who did The Longest Yard, 50 First Dates, and Anger Management, It’s based on a TV show starring a bunch of people who are dead now, so you know it’s really a fresh concept.  Hey, man, you know what else is a fresh concept? Bein’ nice to your neighbor.  Think about it.

This is the teaser trailer for Get Smart, starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, The Rock, and Alan Arkin. It’s helmed by Peter Segal, who directed Tommy Boy, but also 50 First Dates, Anger Management, The Nutty Professor 2, and The Longest Yard remake.

Hard to say whether it’s going to be funny just yet, but it does have Anne Hathaway running.  It’s called “Get Smart”, because the main character, played by Steve Carell is a guy named Maxwell Smart.  It’s a very humorous name because judging by the clip, he’s not very smart at all!

It’s got Steve Carell talking to his shoe.  Get it?  It’s funny cause it’s a shoe! Stars Steve Carell, The Rock, Alan Arkin, Bill Murray, and my penis’ favorite actress, Anne Hathaway, in a remake of the classic TV show. It releases 6-20-08.

Mamma Mia!
Mamma mia! I’ma so happy aI’ma gonna jumpa up onna da bed! I like it when they turn plays into movies, because the theatre is for poor people.  They finally got enough money to buy a camera, so now the Abba-infused musical is coming to the screen with Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried and Christine Baranski.  Know who’s gonna be happy about this?  The gays.  (July 18th)

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
In Guillermo Del Toro’s (Pan’s Labyrinth - yes, please) upcoming Hellboy sequel, Ron Perlman gets to carry a big gun.  You’ve probably seen Ron Perlman lots of places without knowing about him. He’s an extremely solid actor with a rather unfortunate looking face, which Hollywood has tactfully compensated for by casting him as characters that require a mask – like Hellboy, and Beast, from the Beauty and the Beast TV show.  Take heart, ugly people, there’s a lesson in there somewhere. As much as I’m a bile-spewing hatemonger, there are three things I’ll rarely ridicule: Bill Murray, Steve Carrell, and Anne Hathaway.  Now the Get Smart remake has all three. 

In Get Smart, Carell plays Maxwell Smart, a useless spy who works for the CONTROL agency. He’s assisted by the comely Agent 99 (Hathaway) and the hulking Agent 23 (The Rock). Sci-Fi Wire spoke to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson recently and he talked about his character and Murray’s appearance.

"[Mine is] a brand new character that we created for the story," said Johnson. "Agent 23 is Control’s greatest agent and I am Steve Carell’s best friend in the movie. We’ve got a whole bunch of cameos. Bill Murray has a cameo".  [Empire]

But yeah, Anne Hathaway.  She gives me a real "The Rock" Johnson.  (Scheduled for June 2008)
