IGN has this latest publicity still (click thumbnail below for full size) from X-Men Origins: Wolverine – directed by Gavin Hood, opening May 2009.

The slight-yet-muscular build, the leather jacket-wifebeater combo, the stubble and chest hair, the vaguely sexual sounding name (Hugh Jackman!) – Jesus, he’s like a fruity caricature of a manly man.  He could’ve been the most famous gay porn star the world has ever known.  He’s less a man than a work of art – chiseled out of dicks by Truman Capote. 

Or maybe I’m just reading too much into it.  GRR, LESBIAN PORNO!

Variety is reporting that X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is set for a May 2009 release and that Liev Schrieber (The Manchurian Candidate, Naomi Watts’ vagine) is in final talks to play the bad guy, William Stryker.

Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine, David Benioff (25th Hour, Troy) will write the script, and Gavin "Clitoral" Hood (Rendition) will direct. 

Hood will start shooting in Australia before moving to New Zealand [Why Not?] and, later, to New Orleans. Latter location is a clue that the storyline might include New Orleans-based character Gambit, who is able to make objects explode and was a professional thief before joining the X-Men.

Reached for comment, Schrieber said:

I’ve always had an octogenarian fetish. I find old women at funerals and weddings attractive; I have this weird mortality thing.

No really, he actually said that. Yeah, I have a weird mortality thing too, or so the dead hookers in my garage would seem to suggest.  Know what’s the difference between ’68 Coupe De Ville and a pile of dead hookers?  I don’t have a Coupe De Ville in my garage.
