Lost/Cloverfield creator JJ Abrams’ Star Trek movie has a new trailer out, and once again I have to say that it looks surprisingly watchable. Plus, Bruce Greenwood is in it, and he’s like Jesus, but better.  It’s weird, every time I see a trailer for this I think I’ll probably see it, but then I see posters of Spock at the theater and I want to run far, far away.  Every time I look at this guy I hear Amber Alerts.  Seriously, he’s creepy as f-ck.  He looks like a condom with eyebrows.

But to get that unsexy image out of your head, know also that Diora Baird is also in this, and she’ll be playing “Orion Slave Girl.”  That’s solid casting, because Diora Baird has magnificent tits. The tits of the future, really.

JJ Abrams’ new Star Trek movie shot a load of fresh pictures all over the internet yesterday and I’ve compiled them for you here.  I’m disappointed, but I don’t really know why.  I guess I assumed a space captain would be a guy who could buy space beer with out getting space carded.  But they look pretty much exactly how you’d expect from pictures of Star Trek as envisioned by the producer of Lost.  With the possible exception of Eric Bana as Nero, they all have that cheesy TV look, with the glamour shots lighting and the I’ve-been-stranded-on-an-island-for-months-but-still-have-a-waxed-chest-and-designer-jeans feel to them.

Eric Bana, whom you may remember as the Hulk before Ed Norton, or even better, as Chopper, is making his directorial debut with Love the Beast.

…a documentary about his 25-year love affair with a 1974 Ford Falcon Coupe.

Bana describes "Beast," which took him two years to shoot, as "an unexpectedly emotional journey" in which he explores the importance of friends, hobbies and what it means to live life to the fullest.

Doc includes cameos from talkshow host Dr. Phil and Brit auto-aficionado Jeremy Clarkson ("Top Gear"). [Variety]

Bana recently screened the film for a group of his old mates from high school who described it as "truly fantastic.  And surprisingly touching.  *cough* queer *cough, cough*"

Comic-Con is what happens when marketing people figure out that nerds will actually pay to be advertised to as long as half naked strippers hand out free t-shirts.  Holy crap, did you see that pornstar dressed like Arwen?  I think I need to change my space pants!

Anyway, that makes it the perfect place to debut things like this new one sheet for JJ Abrams Star Trek.  That’s Eric Bana as a bad dude, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Chris Pine as Cap’n Kirk, and Zacharo Quinto as Spock. 

That’s all well and good, but I refuse to see anything of JJ Abrams’ until he explains to me what the hell that goddamned smoke monster thing was all about.  This isn’t ‘nam, JJ, there are rules.

JustJared has this and more pictures of Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams from the set of The Time Traveler’s Wife.  Rachel McAdams still won’t return my calls (well, catcalls, really).  Prude bitch.

In the film, Chicago librarian Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana) has a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel when he is stressed. Though he disappears often for long periods of time, he tries to build a romantic relationship with artist Clare Abshire (Rachel McAdams). Ron Livingston plays Gomez, the librarian’s friend and a liberal attorney who works for nonprofit organizations.

Time travel, eh?  Yes, that always complicates things. I tried to use a similar excuse last time I picked my girlfriend up from middle school, but I don’t think the cop was buying it.  If I’m guilty of anything, it’s loving too much.  Too much too soon.
