ELLEN PAGE’S BROTHER THINKS HE’S A DOG

03.28.08 Written by Vince Mancini

This is the trailer for The Tracey Fragments, starring Ellen Page before she got famous for Juno; back when she was apparently going the Jennifer Jason Leigh career route, where you try to get raped and have the shit kicked out of you on camera as much as possible.  Synopsis:

15-year-old Tracey Berkowitz is naked under a shower curtain at the back of a bus, looking for her little brother Sonny, who thinks he’s a dog.

Description of the trailer:

Fade in:  Indecipherable split screens.  Folksy acoustic guitar plays.

ELLEN PAGE: My name is Tracey Berkowitz.  Fifteen.  Just a normal girl who hates herself.

ME: Check, please.

DELETED SCENE FROM JUNO

03.24.08 Written by Vince Mancini

This is a deleted scene from the Juno DVD (out April 15th) called "Café Triste". Triste means sad in Spanish and that about sums it up. Kinda would’ve liked to hear the song about Danny Trejo though.

Side Note: The movie version of Café Triste is nowhere near as sad as the real one – in Berkeley, of course. (video after jump)

ELLEN PAGE’S REPLACEMENT

03.04.08 Written by Vince Mancini

28-year-old actress Alison Lohman (Big Fish, Matchstick Men) has been cast as the lead in Sam Raimi’s upcoming "supernatural thriller" Drag Me to Hell, replacing Juno star Ellen Page, who left due to "scheduling issues."

Th film, which will mark Raimi’s first helming effort since "Spider-Man 3," centers on the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse. [Variety]

This is a contoversial decision, but I for one am behind it 100%.  Alison Lohman is a fine young actress who’s shown a real propensity for almost having her nipple showing in public – and it looks like a nice puffy nipple, the kind of nipple that says "fun".

But if you forced me to pick a favorite role, I’d have to go with her spellbinding performance in whatever this movie is (NWS).

ELLEN PAGE OFF SAM RAIMI MOVIE

03.03.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Ellen Page dropped out of Drag Me to Hell, a horror movie from Spiderman trilogy/Evil Dead director Sam Raimi, some say because she didn’t like the script, others say because of a scheduling issue.

I’ll tell you this, if her role was anything like her stint hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, leaving was a great decision.  A man dressed as a woman? A white girl dressed as a black girl?  My heavens, what will they think of next?!

This sketch should be charged with a hate crime.

SOME OTHER STUFF HAPPENED

Furry aliens love Asian kids.

Ellen Page Officially Breaks My Heart
Reuters makes it official, she’s gonna be in Drew Barrymore’s directing debut.  Why God Why.

Atonement Leads BAFTA Nominations
That’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts.  Atonement got 14 noms including “Best Film”. Am I taking crazy pills?  NOTHING HAPPENS IN THIS GODDAMNED MOVIE. Unless there’s a category for best underbite, it should be a shutout.

Picture of the CJ7 Alien (above)
This movie (from Kung Fu Hustle‘s Stephen Chow) looks completely insane.  Perhaps even crazier than Speed Racer.  And Asian movies are usually so grounded in reality.  It. Just. Doesn’t. Make. Sense.

Jason Mewes Strikes Again
Kevin Smith’s Zack & Miri Make a Porno has picked up Jason Mewes, Craig Robinson (the awesome bouncer in Knocked Up), Traci Lords, and Katie Morgan (another porn star).  I’m gonna go out on a limb and say there’s gonna be a lot of dialogue in this.

Cloverfield Something Something Manga
To me “Manga” means my grandma forcing me to eat more pasta while I cry.  But apparently it also has something to do with Cloverfield marketing.  I’m not going to try to figure it out for you because I have better things to do.
