Though I love Community (especially Abed, probably the most interesting TV comedy character in 10 years), Donald Glover as Troy is severely underutilized.  Hopefully you’ll be able to see a little more of what he can do in Mystery Team, which comes out on DVD next week.  To promote that, Derrick Comedy, the troupe behind Mystery Team, has released this new video, which introduces us to their brand-new, groundbreaking social network site, “Gink.”

Never before have users had so much control over the Blorkiffability of their Quimbles.

And that’s to say nothing of getting your gorks-to-schmorkle rating into the dunklesphere.

You probably know Donald Glover (the black guy) from his role as Troy on Community, my favorite new show of the year.  But before that, he made videos with a Lonely Island-esque group called Derrick Comedy.  This is their first short in almost two years — it’s called Boy Band, and they made it to support their movie, Mystery Team (trailer below), which will be opening in Phoenix, New York, Albequerque, and Chicago over the next few months.

The premise of the video is that young girls have stopped buying boy band records, so now they’re targeting the pedophile crowd.  The sad part is, even when that’s its explicit purpose, it’s still less creepy NAMBLA porny than Zac Efron, Chace Crawford, the Jonas Brothers, the Sprouse twins, and 95% of the Disney Channel.

Mystery Team is an indie comedy that racked up enough positive reviews at Sundance to get picked up for a theatrical release this fall, and now it has a trailer.  You’ve never heard of anyone in it, but it’s got that Napleon Dynamite offbeat-comedy vibe going for it.

Mystery Team is a dark comedy that follows the lives of three high school age friends who are still holding on to their Encyclopedia Brown-esque childhood detective club. Of course, their world is turned upside down when they are presented with a real, adult mystery. [FSR]

I had to deal with a bit of an adult mystery myself this morning when I pulled a hair out of my nostril that was coarse and black and at least two inches long.  Is this what happens when you get older?  God tries to slowly suffocate you with rogue monster hairs?  Will the insides of my nostrils eventually turn into Andy Rooney’s eyebrows?  I prefer child mysteries, like how many grapes can I fit in my underpants.  Well, some mysteries are timeless, I suppose.
