MORE BONER-WORTHY DARK KNIGHT STUFF

05.12.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Jeez, skip a meal, Batman.

A couple new Dark Knight TV spots premiered the other night on Survivor.  I reposted them here since no one under 60 actually watches that show.  You can see them after the jump, along with a slew of new high-res pictures.

From what I’ve seen, Ledger’s pretty much a lock for Best Supporting Actor.  He’ll need to keep his fingers crossed that an aging actor who’s been shut out thus far doesn’t play a retarded concentration camp musician, but otherwise he’s a sure thing.  What’s that – he’s dead?  Oh yeah, um, I guess someone will have to cross his fingers for him.  What’s that, too soon?  Yeah, well, so’s your face.

See the other TV spot and the rest of the pictures over at /film.

DONNIE DARKO GETS A SEQUEL

05.09.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Donnie Darko is reportedly getting a classy sequel, S. Darko.

Daviegh Chase reprises her role as Donnie’s younger sister. The cast for S. Darko also includes Ed Westwick (Son Of Rambow, Gossip Girl), Briana Evigan (Step Up 2) and Justin Chatwin (Dragon Ball). Chris Fisher, who previously made Nightstalker and Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders, will direct. The budget is pegged around $10m. The story picks up seven years after the first film (and Donnie’s death) when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions.

That’s right, no Jake Gyllenhaal and no Richard Kelly.  So basically this is about the younger sister, which is like doing a Michael Bay sequel about one of the token black guys without Michael Bay directing.  But don’t worry, it’ll still be awesome says some guy you’ve never heard of.

Simon Crowe of [the studio producing] added: "I think there is a new generation of cinema-goers who will be very excited to see this film. Donnie’s not in [the new film] but there are meteorites and rabbits."  [ScreenDaily]

Of course there are. -Thanks to Ohad for the tip

WICKED SPOILA’: ECKHART AS TWO FACE!

05.07.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Maaakin\' frieeeeee-eeeeends.....

UPDATE: I’m not posting this at the top of the page because Durden got to it before me.  But here it is in case you missed it.

I assume that for many of you, The Dark Knight is a movie you actually want to see, so I respect your right to want to be surprised by not subjecting you to a giant spoiler-ass banner picture.  If you don’t want to see the full shot of Harvey Dent as Two-Face, feel free to continue enjoying the Quack Brothers and Professor Meow-Meow here.

–END DISCLAIMER–

(click on the thumbnail below to see the spoiler image)

I must say, well done again, Dark Knight.  They’ve turned a character that was sort of lame into pretty freaky looking villain.  He’s almost as scary as a little kid with a speech impediment. *jumps up on chair* Eeek, get it away from me!   [Source]

THE NEW, NON-BOOTLEG DARK KNIGHT TRAILER

05.05.08 Written by Vince Mancini

WATCH THE TRAILER AFTER THE JUMP

The new Dark Knight trailer, which premiered on buttcam last week has found it’s way online in non-buttcam form and I’ve got it after the jump.

The cast looks awesome (one can never have enough Gary Oldman), Heath Ledger seems to have a great take on the Joker, and my only problem with this first one – Katie Holmes looking nothing like a hard-nosed assistant DA – has been solved.

Hot damn, I’m ready to make sweet love to this movie, if only it had an orifice.  Meh, details.  Okay, baby, now just relax…- [Thanks to Liam for the tip]

You can also watch it in hi res here.  On a more serious note, I hope Chris Nolan finally hired some stunt choreographers, because the blur-cut-blur style action sequences in his other movies is really annoying.  “But it totally feels like you’re there, maaan!”  No.  No it doesn’t.  And anyway, Daddy just likes to watch.

DARK KNIGHT HYPE MACHINE PICKS UP SPEED

04.30.08 Written by Vince Mancini

With two and a half months to go before the Dark Knight opens, the hype machine is just getting warmed up.  The latest schwag is the giant banner that came out in the UK.  You can see it above – it’s too wide to fit a bigger version on this site, but you can check it out here.  It’s nice that they took the time to make the broken glass look so realistic.

And after the jump, I’ve got the "jokerized" trailer from /Film.  Uh, I’ll let them explain it.

At the latest Dark Knight viral events [no doubt sponsored by herpes-date.com -Ed.], one winner was chosen from the audience to take home a 35mm print of The Dark Knight movie trailer. As it turns out, this 35mm print is actually defaced by The Joker himself [well, not actually...]. One of the winners put the Jokerfied trailer online.

…Yeah, sweet, a 35mm print, just what I’ve always wanted.  It’s kind of like when indie filmmakers send me stuff, and think I’m gonna be all excited to get a t-shirt with the name of their movie and release date on it.  Yeah, sweet, bro, I’ll be a hit at the club in this.  And guess what, ladies?  I’ve also got the screener DVD back at my apartment.  Mmm-mmm, I can tell you’re already gettin’ all hot, so I won’t even tell you about all the free pens with the name of my bank on them.  Oops! I’m so naughty!
