So I was dangling this dork from Pajiba upside-down trying to dislodge his lunch money when out popped this video. It’s a montage of “Get out of there!” scenes from movies. (You may remember this concept from such other montage videos as Mirror Scare, We’ve Got Company, and No Signal).  This one is just as thorough, but the concept isn’t as funny to me.  As much of a cliché as “Get out of there” is, I’ve yelled that in real life almost as many times.  Usually I’m in a bathrobe and shaking my fist at some raccoons, but still, it’s not strange to hear the words.

My sources also tell me there will be a sequel to Get Out of There. Tom Cruise will star in Why, Are There Gays in There?

POST SCRIPT: I think we need to invent a new word for “montage” that’s not all gay and French.  I submit “Clipskrieg.”

As we saw previously in the “Mirror Scare” and “No Signal” compilations (not to mention “I’m not here to make friends“), there’s just something gratifying about seeing something you never would’ve disputed was a  cliché pummeled into submission with excessive examples of said cliché.  Today’s mashup, from the Guy Bauer Half Hour, deals with “We’ve got company” — also my favorite YTMND whatsit.  This one’s even more fascinating, as “We’ve got company” remains strangely pervasive as a movie line despite that I don’t think I’ve ever heard it in another context.  The few times I’ve said it myself have always been whispered during foreplay as I gestured towards my extensive doll collection.

Fourfour recently put together this video compilation which does for the “mirror scare” in movies what that one No-Signal video did for the… having no signal in movies.  One thing becomes clear as you watch it: there really are a lot of movies with mirror scares. And the compilation is well done, very thorough.  I saw a similar compilation like this dealing with clichés in adult film.  Huge, Jiggly, Oiled-Up Titties, I believe it was called. Very eye-opening.
