Video of the Day: Jackie Chan’s “sticky fight” from The Myth

Written by Vince Mancini / 05.13.13

I freely admit that I haven’t seen nearly enough Jackie Chan movies from when he was still in his stunt-performing/choreographing prime, so this scene from 2005′s The Myth was new to me. To make a long story short, I don’t know if the movie is any good, but this scene is fantastic, and should serve as proof, should anyone doubt that Jackie Chan is the Buster Keaton of martial arts movies. About a million miles away from the “badass” fight scenes you see in most action/martial arts movies these days, this one’s all about props, slapstick, and sustained spectacle, as Jackie Chan tries to fight off three pursuers while stuck on a sticky conveyor belt at the rat trap factory, as he and his busty damsel in distress (Mallika Sherawat) have their clothes gradually torn off while being slowly fed into a thresher. Talk about drama! Sexy drama! Rarely do you see a Looney Tunes cartoon so effectively brought to life.

Watch: The Gag Reel from Tommy Boy

Written by Vince Mancini / 05.13.13

I just caught this Tommy Boy gag reel over on BroBible, and apparently it’s been online since October, but regardless it seemed like a fun way to waste four minutes on an already-unproductive Monday. I mostly like to crap on my generation’s wildly overvalued nostalgia, but Tommy Boy hits me right in my soft spot. It seemed like it was always on cable growing up and I’ve seen it about a jillion times. The plot is hokey and formulaic and the jokes are mostly hacky, but damn if I don’t still love it anyway. Something about Chris Farley’s “lovable fat guy” shtick seems so much more natural than, say, Kevin James’s. It seems like he wasn’t trying nearly so hard to be lovable. Or was I just younger and less cynical then? You know what, don’t answer that.

Razor-blade nipple tassel lady: The best Bond villain that never was?

Written by Vince Mancini / 04.26.13

I wish I had a nickel for every time I had to type this, but here’s a video of a lady who shreds a guy’s chair to splinters with spinning razor blades attached to her nipples. The sawdust on the floor was a nice touch. Does anyone know what movie this is from? Getting the tassels to spin in opposite directions like that takes coordination. She makes Odd Job look like a clumsy oaf.

UPDATE: I’m told the clip comes from 1979′s The Man from S.E.X. Also known as “Licensed to Love and Kill.” So, presumably a Bond parody already. Well done, world.

Hank Azaria on his Heat reaction shot: ‘I was truly scared’

Written by Vince Mancini / 04.03.13

I wouldn’t normally write an entire post about a tweet from a celebrity, but let’s be honest, any excuse to talk about Pacino’s GREAT ASS!!! scene from Heat is a good one. On last week’s Frotcast we were discussing the scene, a moment so infamous that it’s since taken on meme proportions, and has been a drop on the Howard Stern show for years. I was saying how Hank Azaria’s horrified reaction as he’s being interrogated is at least as priceless as Pacino’s insane line read. A few people emailed to tell us the story of how Pacino had supposedly done the scene flat dozens of times, and then on the 17th or so take, he did the huge GRRREAAAT ASSS line read that you see in the movie, and Azaria’s horrified reaction to it was basically genuine and not in character (a story Azaria apparently discusses on Kevin Pollak’s podcast). Today, he basically confirmed as much on Twitter (see? Twitter can be neat sometimes):
