MORE PROOF THAT BILL MURRAY IS REALLY COOL

In a recent interview, McG revealed that Christian Bale’s outburst wasn’t his first run-in with an actor, and that Bill Murray had actually headbutted him on the set of Charlie’s Angels. As if actors needed more reasons not to work with McG.

“I’m reintroducing the fist-fight to movie sets,” he smiles. “I don’t think there’s been a film I’ve made where there hasn’t been some kind of physical fight. I mean, I’ve been headbutted by an A-list star. Square in the head. An inch later and my nose would have been obliterated.” Will he be revealing any names? “Nah, I probably shouldn’t,” he smiles. “But it was Bill Murray. Y’know, it’s a passionate industry.” [Guardian via Playlist]

It’s hard to tell if he was being serious and I doubt someone from The Guardian would know the difference, but in any case let’s assume McG is an a-hole and no one should work with him ever. There, done.  Who could make Bill Murray so angry he wants to fight?  He’s adorable.  It’d be like getting mauled by a pygmy baby hippo.

A PROBABLY FAKE BILL MURRAY STORY

07.01.08 Written by Vince Mancini

Murray had never seen a blond Japanese before

For everyone who saw both Charlie’s Angels movies and still had enough brain cells left to wonder why Bernie Mac replaced Bill Murray as Bosley in the second one, boy have I got an unsubstantiated rumor for you.  This one comes courtesy of Derober:

People Magazine reported the Bill ‘loudly complained about [Lucy Liu's] technique.’ People was being gentle.
What actually transpired was much more intense. Bill Murray stopped a scene in progress and pointed to Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu saying in order, “I get why you’re here, and you’ve got talent….but what in the hell are you doing here. You can’t act!” At that, Liu blew her lid and attacked Murray, wildly throwing punches. The actors had to be separated to opposite corners of the room while they lobbed verbal hand grenades at each other.
With a Columbia Pictures gun to their heads, both actors would publicly downplay in incident but insiders know better. Bill Murray would not do any sequel with Liu attached and was subsequently replaced by Bernie Mac.

What the article fails to point out is that when Murray told Drew Barrymore "I get why you’re here", he was referring to the fact that she makes a mean grilled cheese.  What, you think she gets cast because of the acting?
