New Pacific Rim trailer: A Robot Beats Godzilla to Death with a Battleship

Written by Vince Mancini / 04.29.13

Guillermo Del Toro premiered a new full-length trailer for Pacific Rim at WonderCon recently, and now it’s available online, where you can watch it without delousing your neckbeard afterwards. If you’ve been living under a rock, or an active social life, this one’s set in a world where a race of Godzillas emerges from the bottom of the sea, and humans build giant robots to fight them. So basically, Godzilla vs. Robot Jox, aka the best idea ever. It’s the perfect escapist vehicle that asks, “What if we could solve our problems with a giant robot that punched them in the face?”

The new trailer features a lengthy expository sequence courtesy of, believe it or not, It’s Always Sunny‘s Charlie Day, and a shot of a giant robot framed behind a fluttering American flag that would make Michael Bay weep onto the head of the Ukranian supermodel blowing him. Have you ever wanted to see a giant robot hit Godzilla with a battleship swung like a baseball bat? Now’s your chance.

Pacific Rim Photos: The Black Knight is a giant robot who fights Godzilla now

Written by Vince Mancini / 02.04.13

If you like giant robots punching each other, and that describes me as well as anything, then it looks like you’re going to love Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim. It appears to have all the giant robot action of Transformers, with the added benefit of the story not centering around the most obnoxious family on Earth. USA Today just posted eight new stills, and AICN broke the news that the film had a special screening last night in Burbank. Hollywood is nothing if not a town built on ass kissing, and people who would skip the Super Bowl for an advanced screening are probably the type who might geek out over a movie more than others, but word seems to be positive. Though that word is mostly being collated by the studio itself, of course. At the very least, Looper director Rian Johnson liked it.

Ooh, ‘transmogrified,’ well la di da, Professor Wordlington. Anyway, my big takeaway here is that there are some robot jox who fight Godzilla, and one of the robots looks like the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Here’s to hoping that at some point he falls to the ground complaining of a flesh wound with a stump limb the size of the Chrysler building. My God, did I just type all of that? I get nerdier just being near this movie, like nerd osmosis.

Unnecessary Sequel Alert: Horrible Bosses 2

Written by Vince Mancini / 01.06.12

Horrible Bosses was a film about three guys who have horrible bosses (such as Charlie Day’s boss, Jennifer Aniston, who keeps sexually harassing him), so they cook up a plan to kill them and ask a black guy (Jamie Foxx) how to do it. Obviously there’s so much rich mythology here that it needed a second film in order to be fully explored.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the screenwriters behind New Line’s surprise workplace comedy hit [$35 mil budget; $210 mil worldwide gross] Horrible Bosses, have closed a deal to pen a sequel. It is expected that Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis will be back to star in the movie, and the studio is in early talks with helmer Seth Gordon to return to the director’s chair. [THR]

What’s the plot of this one, they have new bosses that are also horrible? Horribler Bosses?  Electric Bossaloo? Hey, maybe you guys are just terrible employees, ever thought of that? Charlie Day makes me laugh almost every time he opens his mouth, but this is pushing it. Where’s Day Man, or Little Green Ghouls: The Movie? “Horrible Bosses” doesn’t even sound like a real movie title, it sounds like the poorly-translated-into-Chinese version of a movie title.

Jennifer Aniston Deepthroating a Banana

Written by Vince Mancini / 05.11.11

In the interests of full disclosure, I had a headline and screencap about Colin Farrell’s combover all set to go when I saw Jennifer Aniston in her underpants deepthroating a banana. Realizing I’m not allergic to cash money, I posted that instead. In any case, Warner Brothers just released the trailer for their July comedy Horrible Bosses — GEE, I WONDER WHAT THAT’S ABOUT! SQUIBBETY BLABBETY DOO!  It comes from King of Kong (and, uh.. Four Christmases…) director Seth Gordon, and stars Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, and Jason Bateman as three guys plotting the murder of their horrible bosses, played by Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, and Colin Farrell’s combover.  I don’t know if there’s a contest in Hollywood to see who can come up with the most boring, linear premise, but I do enjoy the actors involved. Maybe not enough to deepthroat a banana, but they seem nice.

Will you endure Drew Barrymore for Charlie Day?

Written by Vince Mancini / 05.21.10
GoingtheDistance-Drew-Justin-RetardPig

Retard Pig laugh when da pwetty people laugh!

When I clicked play on this trailer for Going the Distance*, the first thing I saw was real-life couple Justin Long and Drew Barrymore amusing the hell out of each other with hilarious jokes about tortellini and I thought I’d never stop vomiting.  I thought it was over, and that’s when the blood diarrhea started.  But as I looked up from my agony, I noticed my hirsute, lilliputian man-crush Charlie Day from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was there too (playing… Justin Long’s dad**?  Huh?).  Then SNL’s most-underrated cast member Jason Sudeikis showed up.  Before I passed out, I think I saw Jim Gaffigan.  Was it real?  Are Jim Gaffigan and Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis really in a Drew Barrymore rom-com?  Or was it all just a sh*tty-movie induced hallucination?  You be the judge.
