Help us raise $10K for charity

Written by Vince Mancini / 12.21.12

Like probably a lot of people, I feel like I need the occasional good deed to really purify my soul and justify my being an unapologetic jerk most of the rest of the time. And what better time to start feeling good about yourself than Christmas? Here at UPROXX we were trying to figure out a way to do something nice for charity this year, like we normally do around this time, and Guinness just so happened to step in with this matching plan.

Cajun Boy has the rundown over at Uproxx main, but basically, all you have to do is pledge to do a good deed and Guinness will donate $100 to a charity of our choosing. So DO IT. Go over to Uproxx (and then Guinness) and help someone out. It’ll help you feel less bad about flipping someone off while you fight over mall parking later.

Ryan Gosling And Michael Fassbender Visited A School For The Deaf

Written by Ashley Burns / 11.01.12

Terrence Malick’s untitled project has been causing quite a stir in Texas, where it is being filmed, as stars Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender already showed up at a recent Texas Longhorns game, inducing one of the world’s largest collective orgasms on record. But as I previously pointed out, the folks at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium were spared exposure to the film’s entire sexy cast, as it also stars Ryan Gosling.

Apparently the stars of this film are traveling under a rule of 2/3 because Gosling and Fassbender showed up at the Spooky Skedaddle 5K on Saturday at the Texas School for the Deaf sans Portman, which caused all the boys to sign, “What the hell?” The event, which sounds like it was named by Gosling, raises money for the foundation’s “Language for All” campaign, and thanks to the presence of Baby Goose and Michael F. Assbender, this year’s event raised $22,000, due to some clever advertising by the school’s staff.

Channing Tatum Saved The Rain Forest By Giving Elton John A Lap Dance

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.05.12

Last month, we gave you environmentalists the heads up that the Rainforest Foundation, created and run by Sting and his wife, would be hosting its biannual fundraising concert at Carnegie Hall, with the theme “Songs from the Silver Screen”. The latest event took place on Tuesday, as Meryl Streep, Elton John, Tom Hanks, James Taylor and a gaggle of other A-listers took the stage for this important cause. But the one name that raised our partially shaved eyebrow the most was our boy, Channing Tatum.

But it turns out that C-Tates’ presence was totally justified, as he and his wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum, performed a seductive dance during Bryn Terfel’s operatic performance. They may have been there for the rainforests, but I like to think Tatum saved the rec centers… of their hearts. Especially when Tatum surprised Elton John during one of his performances.

Channing, who wore a black vest and a matching hat and pants, was grinding and bumping with Sir Elton while the 65-year-old music vet was delivering single “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who also donned an all-black attire, jokingly said, “It has become a custom at these shows for me to humiliate myself.” (Via Ace Show Biz)

Humiliate? How is having the hardest twerkin’, workin’, lay it down flip it and reversin’ man in S-to-the-H-O-Double-Dizzle B1ZZNA$TEE grinding on you humiliating? I’d say that’s a gosh-darned honor.

Regardless, our brother from another mother put on a hell of a show Tuesday night and we gots us some hella tight photos for u 2 peep.

Planned Parenthood Declined A $500,000 Donation From Tucker Max

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.03.12

When you spend the better part of a decade busting your ass to establish a reputation as the world’s greatest storytelling womanizer, you shouldn’t be too shocked when it sticks with you long after you’d like it to. At least that’s the lesson that frat god Tucker Max is learning now that he’s kind of, sort of trying to do something nice with the wealth and fame that he’s achieved since writing I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.

Max contacted his friend and Forbes contributor Ryan Holiday recently, asking for advice on a charity that he could donate $500,000 to, in order to both reduce his tax burden and promote his latest books. Holiday suggested that Max donate the money to Planned Parenthood in Texas to have a clinic named after himself. And that’s when the joke machine exploded.

At first Planned Parenthood was on board and grateful, but then someone apparently taught them how to use Google and they called and offered Max and Holiday a hearty, “Thanks but no thanks, broseph.”

Armageddon Watch: Channing Tatum And Meryl Streep To Perform At Carnegie Hall

Written by Ashley Burns / 03.16.12

For the past 23 years, when not having 37-hour tantric sex sessions, Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, have been raising awareness for the indigenous people of Central and South American rain forests. Every two years, they’ve hosted star-studded concerts to support their efforts, and they’ve been able to protect almost 30 million acres of rain forest in the process. And this year… well, hold on to your fanciest hats, because the A-list is coming in full force.

Meryl Streep, Elton John, James Taylor, Roseanne Cash, Bryn Terfel (he’s a popular opera dude), Bruno Mars, Vince Gill and Jennifer Hudson will join Sting at Carnegie Hall this year for “Songs from the Silver Screen.” But someone must have built a rec center in one of the rain forests, because joining them on the main stage – Channing Tatum!

Tatum, who stars in “21 Jump Street” with Jonah Hill, isn’t really known for his voice, and has never sung onscreen. However, the former Abercrombie & Fitch model-turned-stripper-turned-actor does know how to entertain a crowd, if his “Saturday Night Live” debut is any indication.

The star-studded concert’s theme of the night is “Songs from the Silver Screen.” The Rainforest Foundation concert will take place on Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. ET at Carnegie Hall. (Via the HuffPo)

If you, too, were forced by a she-devil to see The Vow, you’ll know that Tatum showed that he actually has some chops on the guitar, no matter how hard you may have laughed when he did it. But singing? MIND = BLOWN.

Thankfully, I have my dear friend C-Tates on speed dial, and once again the hardest workin’, twerkin’, lay it down, flip it and reversin’ it man in $SShow BizzNastee was glad to share some insight.
