ENOUGH WITH THE GD WATCHMEN POSTERS

02.03.09 Written by Vince Mancini

Today we have the Watchmen IMAX poster, which is only the second Watchmen poster to be released since the “Final Watchmen Poster.”  I’m really beginning to hate this movie.  I see these faces more than my family.

IMDB IS OFFERING FREE SHOWS

09.17.08 Written by Vince Mancini

IMDB, which is owned by Amazon, announced that it’s offering feature films and television shows for free on its website.

Over 6,000 titles will be available, the company said, citing recent episodes of popular television shows like “24″ and “Heroes” or classic films like “Some Like It Hot.”

IMDB also said that the first episodes of new fall television shows like “Lipstick Jungle” and “30 Rock” will be available for free viewing before their first air date. [THR]

Reached for comment, an industry insider said, “Ooh, look at me, I’m IMDB, I have free shows because I’m sooo cool.  La di da, Your Highnesty.”  The insider then made a dismissive wanking motion, adding, “Oh look, the same SNL sketches NBC has, well yippee dick.  Now could someone tell me where can I find crudely photoshopped pictures of a dog in a birthday hat?”

ANNE HATHAWAY’S PASSENGERS

09.02.08 Written by Vince Mancini

The trailer and poster for Passengers, starring Anne Hathaway, have hit the web. (Poster after the jump)

After a plane crash, a young therapist, Claire (Anne Hathaway), is assigned by her mentor (Andre Braugher) to counsel the flight’s five survivors. When they share their recollections of the incident — which some say include an explosion that the airline claims never happened — Claire is intrigued by Eric (Patrick Wilson), the most secretive of the passengers. Just as Claire’s professional relationship with Eric — despite her better judgment — blossoms into a romance, the survivors begin to disappear mysteriously, one by one. Claire suspects that Eric may hold all the answers and becomes determined to uncover the truth, no matter the consequences. [Movie Web]

I’m pretty excited about this because I’ve always been a big fan of Anne Hathaway’s passengers. (Get it? I mean her huge boobs!)

KEVIN SMITH IS SCREWED

07.21.08 Written by Vince Mancini

The MPAA has officially given Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno an NC-17 rating, meaning the only theaters where it could be shown would likely be filled with masturbating perverts, or worse, hippies.  News Askew says:

We’ve known of this or a while, given a few statements from Seth Rogen and Kevin himself, but this tells us that the MPAA did indeed grant the film this rating. “Pending appeal” tells us that the film’s producers have taken the “Clerks” route and have the MPAA taking a closer look, likely without any cuts, in the hopes they’ll be re-assigned an “R”. This isn’t new territory for View Askew, though the first scuffle in some time, as “Clerks II” surprisingly went through the ratings system with an “R” and no objections last time around, with Kevin very vocally expecting otherwise. A verbally graphic “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” scene with hookers was excised but eventually made it to DVD.

Basically, they’ve asked the MPAA to review the film again, and if they give it NC-17 again, they’ll have to think about making cuts.  They should just rename it Zack and Miri Make S’Mores and call it a day.  Or maybe just Tom and Lisa Make a Porno because those names sound far less vulgar, don’t you think?

HUMOROUS DRUG REFERENCE, EVERYONE!

07.11.08 Written by Vince Mancini

After the jump, watch the first TV spot for Pineapple Express (full trailer here, red-band here, theme song here).  Normally I’d be annoyed with the simplistic “look everyone, drugs are cool!” approach (not that drugs aren’t cool…), but I’m actually excited for this movie.  It just seems well put-together, and the dialog back-and-forths seem genuine.  They do the small things well, almost as if they have actual first-hand experience with human interaction.  It’s a nice change from George Lucas, who lives in a cave and eats babies, wearing a diaper made of your money.  My diaper, meanwhile, is made of de-clawed kittens.
