The Social Network opens today, and its almost universally positive reviews won’t be a surprise to anyone who’s heard the music in the trailer.  It’s a children’s choir singing Radiohead!  How could it not be important? As if to test this theory, this new video from Funny or Die combines the music of The Social Network with the some of the silliest moments from Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis.  Ta da!  Suddenly it’s pregnant with import. The first time I heard this song, I made a recording of it so that I can play it on a boombox while I blog in public so people think I’m a genius.  It think it’s starting to work.  Thanks, David Fincher.  Meanwhile, I hear the soundtrack of Bret Ratner’s next movie will have Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger singing a cover of “My Humps.”

“…Is that f*ckin’ Carrot Top behind me?”

Sean Penn recently took time out of his busy schedule of saving Haitian orphans using the healing power of scowls to sit down with Zach Galifianakis on Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis.  Or rather, sit down with Zach Galifianakis’ twin brother, Seth. I don’t want to ruin it by telling you what happens, but I really enjoy this as a non-sequitir:

“Funions needs to be in the movie, he’s got a captain’s hat on him!”

I’m going to be shouting that at strangers all week.  Sidenote: is there a more white name than ‘Seth’?  Preston?  Mort?  Discuss.  Hey, which one of these do you think looks more like Funions?

“What? No, mom, how many times do I have to tell you: I am a serious writer!  Quit riding me, I’ll be up for dinner in a minute.”

Here’s the latest episode of Funny or Die’s Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis, the show that single handedly makes up for the other 85% of their videos starring unfunny celebrities. I don’t have much to add because it’s funny already, but I like the part where Charlize Theron is talking about her dog that has cancer, and Zach Galifianakis holds a video game in front of her face.

ZACH: “What’s his name?”

CHARLIZE: “Old Boy.”

ZACH: “Like, ‘Oh Boy I wish my dog wasn’t sick’?”

Ahh, Zach Galifianakis. He’s like crack for lazy bloggers.
