TRAILER: The Godzilla Remake Looks… Good?

Hollywood never seems capable of making a decent Godzilla or King Kong movie, but that doesn’t stop them from trying, over and over again. Gareth Edwards (not to be confused with The Raid director Gareth Evans, someone should really change that) becomes the latest to take a crack at it, having directed the probably-relevant Monster. He has the help of Legendary Pictures and four credited writers, with a cast that includes Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Let’s see if we can learn anything from the official synopsis…

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Ahh, so it’s Godzilla vs. some mysterious threat? Huh, I actually didn’t get that from the trailer.

So, whaddya think? It doesn’t look half bad so far. But that could just be a function of not showing very much (the same advice I’d give your Aunt Marlene). All I know is, Elizabeth Olsen is super hot and it kind of blows my mind that she’s an Olsen sibling. Her sisters are troll-doll looking weirdos who dress like the mic at an Aerosmith concert and whose bug eyes make me want to chase them outside with a broomstick. Get outta here, you dang Olsens! Go slouch somewhere else!
