Gal Gadot is Your New Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman

After months of pointless speculation, Warner Bros has announced that Fast Furious actress Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman in their upcoming Batman vs. Superman/Superman vs. Batman film, opposite Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck. The 28-year-old former Miss Israel will have some mighty big star-spangled granny panties to fill, not to mention gold bra, as she steps into probably the most sought-after female role in the neckbeard universe. At the very least, she has one my favorite names in Hollywood, behind Benedict Cumberbatch and BooBoo Stewart.

Gadot has been in three Fast & Furious films, as well as Knight And Day and Date Night. Given that Warner Bros has bolstered its starpower with Affleck and has Cavill returning from the summer hit Man Of Steel, it makes sense to groom new stars in the supporting roles, the way that Marvel has done. All this is clearly gearing toward the long-awaited Justice League film, all based on the DC Comics character.

Said director Zack Snyder: “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.” [Deadline]

Hmm, so now we’ve got an invincible flying demi-god with laser vision and super strength and a millionaire playboy with dead parents and a sweet car. Where does the girl with the crown and the invisible jet fit in? And how is this different from Justice League? I don’t know the answer to that, and finding out probably involves getting a lot of dandruff on me, but I can’t wait to see Zack Snyder and David Goyer’s gritty, hard-boiled version of a chick who stops bullets with her chunky bracelets and catches bad guys with a lasso.

Reached for comment, Ben Affleck said of the casting, “MY COUSIN RICHIE SKIDMAWKS DATED A JEW BRAWD LAST SUMMAH. SAID SHE HAD A BAWDY TIGHTAH THAN A COKE BAWTTLE, BUT GETTIN HER TA GO DOWN AWN ‘IM WAS HAHDAH THAN GETTIN GRAWNK AWFF THE INJUHED RESERVE.
