WATCH: Paul Rudd wears overalls in 'Prince Avalanche'

Prince Avalanche played at Sundance and SXSW prior to winning the Silver Bear for best director for David Gordon Green at the Berlin Film Festival, and now the trailer for the Emile Hirsch/Paul Rudd comedy is available for your viewing pleasure. It opens in August and marks David Gordon Green’s first indie comedy since 2007-ish. In addition to being a remake of an Icelandic film scripted by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson, which sounds like the best metal band since Prince Avalanche, this trailer really has everything:

  • Paul Rudd in overalls
  • Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch sort of looking like Super Mario Brothers
  • Paul Rudd farting
  • An out-of-context shot of a huge donkey dick

I mean the list goes on.

Two highway road workers spend the summer of 1988 away from their city lives. The isolated landscape becomes a place of misadventure as the men find themselves at odds with each other and the women they left behind. [IMDB]

A lot of people are excited for David Gordon Green to recapture the magic of his indie roots, but I’m excited for him to recapture the magic of Your Highness, because Your Highness was awesome and I will go to my grave defending it. I can’t imagine a movie about Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch hanging out being too bad. I’m also pretty excited for a plot that’s all about two guys talkin’ ’bout chicks with no chicks around for miles. It really speaks to my experience.
