Richard Linklater Is Still Planning To Make A ‘Dazed And Confused’ Sequel This Year

Director Richard Linklater has long desired to create what he refers to as a “spiritual sequel” for his 1993 classic Dazed and Confused

, which focused on the fictional and hilarious high school hierarchy of Lee High School in Austin, Texas in 1976. The follow-up film’s title was always rumored to be That’s What I’m Talking About, but it was never really known if it would be a direct follow-up to the stoner days of the 1970s or more of a That 80s Show-type sequel.

Either way, it didn’t really matter, because it was revealed back in 2009 that the film hit a financing snag and was probably going to spend eternity in limbo. That was, until Linklater showed up on Reddit yesterday for an Ask Me Anything session, and one righteous Redditor asked the question that stays the same age while the girls keep getting younger.

Obviously, this could just be a resin bowl in a thick cloud of bong smoke, but it’s great to see that Linklater is still passionate about making That’s What I’m Talking About a reality. That way, maybe we could actually have Matthew McConaughey – who, let’s face it, hasn’t aged a week in 20 years – reprise his classic Wooderson role for an actual film and not just for a Butch Walker music video.

And I’m sure that Jason London could use the cash. Maybe to put toward his hospital bills.
