To his credit, director Marc Webb has been trying to build some buzz around The Amazing Spider-Man 2 by Tweeting one set photo every day that the film is in production. While some qualify as ominous – like showing the locker that Venom comes from – others are seemingly meaningless, like a guy planking on a dolly. Hell, the best part about Webb’s tweets are seeing the responses of one seemingly crazy Emma Stone fan, but again, he’s just trying to stir some interaction with fans for the sequel to his lackluster first effort.
But Webb isn’t giving us the good stuff, namely the set photos of Emma Stone, reprising her role as Peter Parker’s main squeeze, Gwen Stacy. Finally, though, photos have been popping up of Stone and Shailene Woodley, who plays Mary Jane Watson, as their characters meet for the first time. And nothing against Woodley – I’m sure she’s a lovely girl with a great personality – but Gwen Stacy looks like Emma Stone.
Maybe if she looked like Emma Thompson, Mary Jane would stand a chance, but if I’m expected to believe that Spidey is really torn between these girls, well, they better cram a few more villains into the film to distract me.
Also, it’s pretty clear that Webb and Co. didn’t cast according to this version of Mary Jane Watson, because they just didn’t.

Finally saw an hour of The Unnecessary–er, I mean Amazing Spiderman. I actually kinda liked it. Ran out of time to watch it all the way through. But it made more sense than the previous spiderman flicks.

I liked the “Unnecessary” thing. Which makes it a very meta comment, actually.
I can’t figure out if I’m more worried about her leg falling asleep or her arms getting tired from holding her boobs together?

They should have gotten Emma to play both characters, it’s the only way the love triangle would make sense.
The only way he could be conflicted is if they got Jennifer Lawrence in the other role.
I always liked the idea that Peter just settled for Mary Jane, since Gwen died. I thought it played out really well in the Universe X series.
If only they had cast an impossibly beautiful woman who can act it would be a perfect movie!
I’m probably less excted about this SM than the last one, and I LOVED the first 3.
He won’t be torn between anything when Gwen bites the dust in either the end of this movie or early in the next one.

If Nick Fury doesn’t show up before the end of this trilogy I will never spend more than one Redbox dollar on a Spider-Man movie again.
