I always thought South Park (and later Team America) had the last word on movie training montages, but Slacktory‘s new supercut montage of training montages (BRAAAAHM) is, at the very least, a good way to get you pumped for those New Year’s Resolutions. My resolution? To stop ethnic cleansing. Oops, starting tomorrow.
Notably absent from this supercut? The montage at the end of 500 Days of Summer, which cuts together exciting footage Joseph Gordon-Levitt reading books and writing equations on chalkboards as he works to finally achieve his lifelong goal of becoming an architect. Man, that was almost as lame as him getting over his ex named Summer by meeting a girl named “Autumn.” Actually, we could probably have an entire supercut devoted entirely to people excitedly drawing equations on chalkboards or windows. Someone get on that. I’m too busy… uh… doing volunteer work.

List of films used below:
Rocky I, II, III, IV, Bloodsport, Bring It On, Chariots of Fire, Cool Runnings, The Cutting Edge, Footloose, Full Metal Jacket, Highlander, Snake in Eagle’s Shadow, Kill Bill (vol. 2), Mulan, No Retreat No Surrender, Ratatouille, Regular Show (Ep. 4 “Death Punchies”), Run Fatboy Run, Step Up Revolution, Team America: World Police, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, The Incredibles, and X-Men: First Class.

Sylvester Stallone and Carl Weathers prancing in the surf = Ethnics Cleansing.
The Turkish Star Wars still has the best training montage of all time: [youtu.be]
I still can’t figure out how Erik Estrada’s agent got him the lead role in a Turkish movie.
Holy smokes that’s awesome. Come for explosive rocks, stay for awkward glances between the hero and his lady friend.
Oh my god I want to gay marry that video.
I love the South Park/Team America montage song so much that I don’t even care that it’s going to be in my head for the rest of the day.
Same here.
Training montages are quite possibly my favorite thing in movies. I am a HUGE fan of old school (and some new school) kung fu movies, and part of the reason that The 36th Chamber of Shaolin is one of my favorite flicks of all time is that it is essentially 75% training.
As an aside, the ad that played before the video was Da Stafe as
The TransporterThe MechanicChev CheliosParker. They seriously need to just make all his movies call “Stafe”. Stafe, Stafe 2, Stafe 3, Stafe 4… Innit roit, Tommy? Is the “Eye of the Tiger”/”Dark Knight Rises” Bruce Wayne training montage out yet? I have been waiting for that.
Disappointed Wet Hot American Summer’s montage was left out: [youtu.be]
Also, bonus point had they included Steve Holt! \o/ and Uncle Mike!’s montage to “Balls in the Air.”
Don’t ask “can I?” Ask “I can!” – STEVE HOLT! \o/
Well I didn’t know where to post this. TOP 5 Music Videos of 2012: (For People who listen to things that aren’t pop induced)
5: Arcade Fire — Sprawl II — Technically this was last year so it’s #5
[www.youtube.com]
4. Grouplove’s Colours — F**k You America we don’t use U
[www.youtube.com]
3. Airbone Toxic Event – Changing — This is the most delightfully racist music video I’ve seen in a while. I think it borrowed scenes from Idlewild and replaced some actors with white ones.
2. Schmoyoho – Get Money Turn Gay — Not a traditional nominee, but awesome, because Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Newt brings it home at the end. And there’s a person named Newt involved.
1. Foxy Shazam – Holy Touch
[www.youtube.com]
Are you kidding? It has Jake Busey and THAT KEYBOARDIST MUST BE IN EVERYTHING. I HAVE DISCOVERED MY LIFE GOAL OF PHOTOSHOPING HIM INTO EVERYTHING.
Not sure where to add this but whatever: Best Music Videos of 2012

1. Foxy Shazam – Holy Touch — This is a toss up. On the other hand, put that Keyboardist in EVERYTHING ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME HE IS ABSURD!
Maybe I’m looking into this way too much, but does it bother anyone else that this wasn’t arranged as an actual training montage would have been – starting out with failed trials and gradually showing the apprentice’s progression? It’s just a montage of successful training from start to finish.
Hell, I’m disappointed that they used “You’re the Best”. Sorry, there’s PLENTY of other montage songs from the 80′s that get me fired up. This one does nothing. Needs a faster tempo. Hell, even “Highway to the danger zone’ could work for a montage. And that was just showing planes taking off.
It’s hard to outdo South Park’s “Live To Win” Warcraft montage as well. Matt and Trey have mastered this shit.
hey Y’all…how about we all get behind a Supercut of Every single LAW & ORDER JURY FOREMAN getting their 8 seconds of “We have. We find the defendant…blah blah blah”. Give those people their fame…as well as, I’m guessing, we may discover some actors that actually became stars! Come on….there must be 400-500 of these people. Let’s Supercut the LAW & ORDER JURY FORMAN!!!
LAW & ORDER JURY FORMAN Supercut!!!!! That would be awesome!!!
Let’s do it….besides seeing who might have gone on to become a famous actor/actress, we’ll also know how many Guilty and NOT Guilty verdicts they delivered!
Awesome idea…let’s go…someone!! I WANT TO SEE THIS!!
Okay if that’s too obscure, what about a supercut of people peeing in front of each other? I think the first time I ever saw that was in PERSONAL BEST with Mariel Hemingway. Shocked me to the core!
It’s FOREMAN, asshole.
Was I NOT supposed to jerk off to this? Because I did.
Seriously though, outside of the Stone and Parker’s Montage song, “You’re The Best” is THE ultimate montage song.
No Karate Kid?
No Vision Quest?
No Perfect?
The 80′s are pissed.
LUNATIC FRINGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(after the :30 mark)
[youtu.be]
I could’ve sworn there was some Vision Quest in there. Wasn’t Stallone a gay wrestler?
I think this dude’s reaction at 1:08 says it all [www.youtube.com]
Minka Kelly as Autumn was a severely underused character. Minka > Zooey
“wax on wax off”???
Yeah, they really need the crane kick.
It’s Always Sunny has a great workout montage for Charlie and Dee in the steroid episode.
I have failed most of if not all of you.
My namesake’s montage deserves to be a part of this montage.
