A few months back, I told you about Stacey Halas, a shaved blonde with big naturals who was summarily fired from her job teaching seventh and eighth grade science in Oxnard, California, when the school administration found out about her past as porn actress Tiffany Six. Principal Reginald Cumberbun commented, “Having always used the internet as a tool for searching important science articles and zesty quinoa recipes, I was shocked, shocked, to find how easily it was for a depraved soul to find photos of loose women in all stages of disroberment,” fainting as he clutched his pearls. I might have made that up, but Halas rightly sued, and now a three-judge panel of hypocrites has struck down her appeal.
A three-judge panel unanimously decided Stacie Halas, 32, was unfit for the classroom. “Although (Halas’) pornography career has concluded, the ongoing availability of her pornographic materials on the Internet will continue to impede her from being an effective teacher and respected colleague,” Judge Julie Cabos-Owen wrote in a 46-page decision issued Friday by the Commission on Professional Competence.
If I was a fired former porn actress and I could only have my case heard by a judge with a hyphenated last name, I’d probably just give up right there.
Halas was continually deceitful about her nine-month career in porn before she went to work at the school, the decision said. Her lawyer Richard Schwab said Halas had tried to be honest but was embarrassed by her previous experience in the adult industry.
Her lawyer is named Dick Swab. :-/
“Miss Halas is more than just an individual fighting for her job as a teacher,” he said Tuesday. “I think she’s representative of a lot of people who may have a past that may not involve anything illegal or anything that hurts anybody.”
Student claims that the teacher was moonlighting as a porn star were initially dismissed after school officials said they couldn’t find any images of her on the Internet — but they were using the school’s computers, which don’t allow access to porn.
That is the funniest sentence ever written. Even saying for the sake of argument that those school officials weren’t lying through their teeth, they should all be fired on account of being childishly naive simpletons. “Mr. Principal, Mr. Principal, you’ll never believe this! Students were caught smoking… in the boy’s room! It’s almost as if they’re taking advantage of the one place we aren’t allowed to monitor them to break the rules!”
Teachers then showed administrators downloads of Halas’ sex videos from their smartphones.
“Get this, sir: Higgins has a phone, that can access the internet.”
“…My God.”
In hearings, former assistant principal Wayne Saddler testified that at the start of a sex video, Halas talked about being a teacher and he felt her effectiveness in the classroom had been compromised.
After rumors of her performance surfaced, profanity was etched on Halas’ classroom window, a teacher testified.
Schwab has said Halas did not star in pornographic movies while teaching in any district. He said she took parts only during an eight-month period from 2005 to 2006 because of financial problems after her boyfriend abandoned her.
I hope this makes you all feel real nice about firing her.
District superintendent Jeff Chancer applauded the commission’s ruling.
“Halas’ decision to “engage in pornography was incompatible with her responsibilities as a role model for students and would present an insurmountable, recurring disruption to our schools should she be allowed to remain as a teacher,” Chancer said in a statement. [Yahoo]
As much as I want to make a thousand easy porn jokes (“I try get out, but porn keeps pulling me back in! And out! And in! And out…”), this is bullsh*t, and everyone involved should be ashamed. I had teachers in junior high and high school who talked up the NRA in class, openly expressed the opinion that masturbation was a sin and men didn’t have to do it, explained why abortion was murder, laughed at students’ lynching jokes, argued that America was founded on Christian ideals, etc, etc, and none of them ever got fired. Nor should they (well, except for the lynching guy, that guy was an asshole). The NRA guy was actually a good history teacher, and the abortion dude knew his biology. And Stacey Halas didn’t even try to teach her opinions, she just tried to hide something she did years before that was completely legal. Are we trying to pretend that teachers never masturbate or have sex now? And short of joining a convent, what job is acceptable for an ex-porn actress? If not hide her past and try to help children, what should she do? Sell dildos door to door?
Just to make this even, here’s district superintendent Jeff Chancer’s picture and contact info. If you have any reason to believe, or possess evidence that this man has ever masturbated or engaged in fornication, please contact the Oxnard school district.

Let me know if you can find a picture of Julie Cabos-Owen.

Back to porn for her. She’s just right for MILF porn. Good timing.
Don’t do porn kids. It never goes away. You can get away with stripping or prostitution, but not porn.
Yep.

Mr. Chancer,
I am writing to express my extreme disapproval for the way your former employee, Miss Halas was treated by your school.
While I respect your desire to protect children, the fact is that pornography is not illegal in this country. This is a clear example of discrimination against a woman, especially in light of the fact that she was not involved in the profession during her time as a teacher.
Treating a woman’s past in a legal profession as shameful sends a very unclear message to your students and damages the chances that anyone who has ever worked in a legal but ‘distasteful’ profession at any point in their lives will ever have a chance to be respected.
The school’s actions are very disappointing in this case. I would also state that I personally consider them lazy and thoughtless. T
The reaction by the school is clearly based more on public relations than legality..
Thank you for your time
Well said.
Apparently not enough horny high school boys petitioned to let this lady keep her job. Democracy doesnt work.
Great work,Vince…..My question is how many of the school administration and students when at home are stroking it to her movies??
Rhetorical question: It was all of them.
Why would they want a teacher with a healthy attitude on sex. They prefer their teachers to be closet pedophiles like the clergy.
Walmart is offering employment to all military veterans. It’s time for Hoover to step up and make the same offer to veterans of porn.
Here Here!
You’d think the people of Oxnard would have a more accepting attitude towards sexual deviancy.
Ox-Nard. Okay, I’ll stop.
Here’s the problem. She may be a great teacher, but any class she teaches will be full of kids who have the internet, and they will bully the fuck out of her. Any teacher will tell you – children are evil. And they like porn.
She obviously shouldn’t be sacked, but the sad truth is she probably could not be an effective teacher now that this has come out.
Seconded. Dismissal is uncalled for, but they are correct in the assertion that every classroom she enters from now on would become a shit show.
Shit show? It wasn’t German porn…
Is this not a deleted plot thread from the last act of Boogie Nights?
I know English is my second language and that is probably why I giggled at that headline. In my mind it read “Fired porn star teacher used to be good looking, isn’t anymore”, since she’s not appealing anymore…
I’ll show myself out… Keep up the good work Vince, Burnsy and co.! Love the site.
On the one hand, knowing that your teacher is in porn films might distract you from your studies, while on the other hand, knowing that the porn actress is your teacher might distract you from your porn. Meanwhile, on both hands, jizz.
You all have to be trolling, right? A huge portion of teaching is classroom management, and that goes right out the window if a classroom filled with 12 and 13 year olds know their teacher was a porn star. There is no chance for effective instruction. Maybe you had shitty teachers 20 years ago in Reedly, but that has no bearing here.
Another piece is the parents. Let’s say Miss Titties was a great teacher and COULD control her class; i can guarantee there would still be a contingent of parents demanding that their child be moved to another class.
We can talk about an ideal world where being a porn star carries no negative stigma; but this is not that world. Her firing, while unfortunate, is justified in my opinion.
“Another piece is the parents. Let’s say Miss Titties was a great teacher and COULD control her class; i can guarantee there would still be a contingent of parents demanding that their child be moved to another class.”
And that makes it okay?
If she can’t control her classroom, that’s one thing. You can’t just say “she probably wouldn’t be able to control her classroom” and fire her without giving her the chance.
I also don’t believe the premise that it would be impossible to control the kids if they know she was a porn star. You talk shit or make stupid jokes, you get sent to the principal, suspended, whatever. The administration can’t just abdicate those duties. There was a teacher at my school who started out a man and became a woman. You think kids didn’t make fun of a 6-foot-plus balding 50-year-old who started dressing in ladies’ clothes one day? They did, and it was the disciplanarians’ job to shut those fuckers down. Because that’s their fucking job.
Pay attention or get punished, that’s how it already works anyway. They’re 13-year-olds, they aren’t going to respect you regardless.
Well, I don’t want to get all hyperbolic with this, but the same thing could, and has, happened with teachers of color or of “alternative” sexual lifestyles. I don’t stand for their firing, and I don’t stand for hers.
Now, I know there’s that hang up of choice (you don’t choose to be black, or to be gay), and I know that we are, by and large, giant bastards when it comes to “choice,” and making the “wrong” one, and dealing with those consequences, but luckily for me Vince is on the ball and provided a much more analogous situation.
Vince you never told us you went to South Park Elementary.
On the serious note. Yes being a (ex) porn star has the potential to be a serious detriment to her teaching ability, but since she was never given the chance to prove it. All it will ever be is a potential danger. This was simply just the grumpy PTA and their overwhelming FUPA’s being discriminatory to a hot blonde teacher they know their little boys and husbands will be fantasizing about.
Whoa, a lot to respond to.
Vince:
“And that makes it okay?”
What’s ok and not ok is subjective. Maybe it’s ok, maybe not. But that’s the reality. You can let her try to manage a classroom, but the parents would never let it get to that point, is what I am saying.
And I DO believe it would be impossible for a former porn star to control a classroom. It’s not just explicit misbehaving, which seems to be your point. I’ll grant you that maybe she could control the outward behavior of her class. But are her lessons going to be effective if half the class spends all day waiting to go home to watch her get railed?
And I completely disagree with your contention that 13 year olds won’t respect an adult.
I’m just saying, parents made it a nightmare for the administrators at Ryan White’s school too, that doesn’t mean they were right to expel him.
Vince it’s pretty cool that Mr. Garrison taught at your school.
Ryan White was accidentally infected with AIDS in a time where nobody knew shit about it – Eddie Murphy made a joke about his girl kissing a gay guy then giving him AIDS by kissing him. No fucking way should he have been expelled and those parents messed up, but it was due to ignorance.
This chick willingly made a career move that involved loads to the face, and parents are completely informed about it.
I see your point but I think the analogy fails. And of course I realize my opinion is just that; an opinion.
i don’t like this internet trend of handing out the contact info of people who are trying to do their jobs. i get the superintendent, but the judges didnt ask for the case; they just said what they think the law says.
Did they? I’m pretty sure the quote from the judge has little to do with laws regarding lying to an employer, and a lot to do with personal opinions regarding what is and what is not appropriate for a teacher.
And in this case specifically, do you really not see even the slightest bit of irony in this “internet trend?”
the decision is 46 pages. i dont care enough to go through, but i’m pretty sure there will be some stuff about the law in there. if the law allows this woman to be fired for prior employment, i agree that sucks. but, harassing judges doesnt change the law. instead, harass the legislature to make a statute preventing this kind of employment discrimination. this tactic may produce actual change that transcends the typical “let’s be obnoxious for a while and then forget about it” mentality
Yeah, I get that there’s 46 pages, most of which is probably legitimate law stuff, but then why the personal bit at all? It’s rhetorical: being a judge is a highly politicized position. They aren’t inhuman systems of input and output. Their own personal opinions are always in play, and those opinions are not beyond reproach. Now, I wouldn’t advocate spamming their inbox, but I don’t think it unreasonable to express disapproval over their handling of the decision.
The administration was already going to win because Halas lied, a fire-able offense. The last thing we need is judges validating these idiots by saying that a woman who once did porn can never be an effective teacher.
agreed
I hope they gets a teaching job somewhere. It’s not like she worked a degrading job like Mcdonalds or anything.
I looked her up on the porn IMDB (IAFD.com for the curious. Prob NSFW even though there’s no pics). She did some absolutely raunchy stuff. WAAAAAAYY into anal.
Point being, if they did an investigation, the actual acts she did may have contributed to her failed appeal. Regardless, God bless her, and hopefully she can get a nice/ non-porn job soon
No doubt it wouldn’t help, but I highly doubt it tipped the scales any more than seeing any of the content would have. “Oh, handies? Yeah, those are fine. Vagina? Ehhhhhh… Anal? We can’t have this woman around our kids! Anal is where we draw the line here in Oxnard.”
So the District Superintendent is the guy from the Men’s Warehouse commercials?
Hard to tell from the picture. If we can get audio of him speaking, we’ll be able to tell.
Does it sound like he gargles hot tar and thumbtacks? If so, that’s our man.
I think we’re all glossing over the important issue here:
She took loads under the nickname Tiffany Six. What’s the point of having a sweet porn-star alter ego if you’re going to be that easily figured out and fired anyway? All superman did was put on glasses and nobody has figured that shit out TO THIS DAY.
She hasn’t lost any appeal from where I’m standing. Y’know what I’m sayin’?
Kinda coming late to the party on this, but are any of you people actual parents? I have no problem with sexuality; I have been happily married for 12 years and we are rather adventuresome and have watched our share of adult films. My problem is in this day and age nothing goes away and you have 12 year old girls who adore this teacher and will want to emulate her. Also we all make choices; common sense dictates when you take money to have sex on film legal or not, the door leading to a career in education is shut. Truly ask yourself if you would want this woman making an impact in your son/daughter’s life? There are many people who worked nights and multiple jobs to earn enough to go to college; that’s the person I want influencing my daughters’ way of thinking.
If she’s a good teacher she’s a good teacher. This whole line of reasoning is bogus. Since when did teaching become a referendum on your teacher’s past life choices? I guarantee 90% of them have made some horrible life choices. I really don’t think that makes a difference in whether someone can teach. And while we’re on the subject, 12-year-olds don’t emulate their teachers. If you want your daughter to not ever do porn, having a porn star for a teacher is probably the best thing for her. All of a sudden it doesn’t sound so cool and rebellious anymore.
“There are many people who worked nights and multiple jobs to earn enough to go to college; that’s the person I want influencing my daughters’ way of thinking.”
Do porn stars not count in that? She took strangers’ jizz in the face to earn enough to go to college. That’s sacrifice too.
Everything about your position relies on the idea that sex is taboo and guilt-ridden and wrong. You can think that, but that’s still nothing more than your opinion.
Put it this way: I don’t want my daughter to grow up to be a porn star. But I don’t want her to grow up to be a lawyer either. I may not want a lawyer teaching my daughter, but since lawyering and porn are both perfectly legal ways to earn money in the eyes of the law, I don’t get to impose my personal morality about lawyers on a government institution’s hiring practices.
Tell ‘ya what: pretty damn instructive to your daughter to know that f***ing in front of a camera is something that NEVER goes away and you’ve got to live with….
Took a lot of what you said into. concideration and agree I can see some validity to your statements. Porn is legal and any consenting adult is free to do whatever they want. There are many professions that could care less. It would mean nothing to me if my massage therapist or the receptionist at my doctor’s office shot porn. I am an adult who has formed my own opinion on porn. The issue I have with instating a teacher with a porn past is whether it is admitted or not students do look to these people for guidance.Even to the most sofisticated student would have a hard time excepting advice or correction from someone with such an unconventional background. In the ideal world the school would maintain a safe and orderly classroom, but commonsense dictates that this teacher would never earn the respect that would be required to manage her classroom. I know you firmly believe that today’s youth don’t give a rat ‘s ass about anyone. Call me naIve, but I think a teacher can sometimes make a profound impact in a student’s life. On a final note, I note that these indiscreetions
Occured prior to her teaching career by about 5 years. The plaintiff is 34 now, which made her 29 at the time. I would surmise education was the path she had decided to follow. Even if not illegal you must admit it is a rather contriversial career path to follow. And call it the cynic in me, but she becomes a teacher then by pure coincidence someone comes across her alter ego and bam! You are everywhere.Talk shows, even people like you blogging about her. Seems pretty convienient. Negative attention is better than no attention…..

I find this all fucking hilarious, on the note of she was my Freshman year Geo-Science teacher at Newbury Park Highschool, and she is now currently working at Thousand Oaks High School. So yeah fuck all of you
