If you don't get excited about new Coen Brothers movies, we probably can't be friends. Here we have the trailer for Inside Llewyn Davis, with its tough-to-spell/tough-to-remember title making it the perfect cool-kid litmus test, which follows the Greenwich Village folk scene of the sixties, starring John Goodman (John Goodman should be in everything, fact), Carey Mulligan, Garret Hedlund, who doesn't even have to change his wardrobe from On the Road, Justin Timberlake as the guy who's out of place, and Oscar Isaac as the titular Llewyn Davis. Oscar Isaac and Adam Goldberg are different people, but tell that to my brain. Anyway, there are few things I enjoy less than Baby Boomers lecturing us about Bob Dylan and how they chaanged everything maaaan for the umpteenth time, but this is the Coen Brothers we're talking here, so I'm sure it won't be that. Yes, I will see this. I will see this so hard my eyeballs need a helmet.
I enjoy that almost every shot in the trailer has a cat. It's like it was perfectly designed for the internet. Opens February 8th.
Seriously, I'm pretty sure this exact shot is also in On the Road. Kristen Stewart is giving him a handjob in it.

“Condom on top of a condom and then wrap it in electrical tape.” Kinky.
Didn’t ODB try that?
Among a great many other things.
She would have probably used the term rubber or prophylactic in the 60′s, not condom. No, YOU’RE pedantic.
Condom on Condom sounds like a perfect fake-Dylan album title.
ODB loved to go in.
There are more Jews in this than a pit in ’40s Poland.
Also, I just got a huge Coener.
I’m in, but it seems dumb to play a Dylan song for the trailer of a movie about fake Dylan. Unless he lip syncs to Dylan songs in the movie, which doesn’t seem like the best idea either.
I’ve not been paying that much attention, but I think Davis is meant to be based on Dave Van Ronk. not Dylan.
(Inside Dave Van Ronk = instant AVN title nominee)
You said the same thing about that Jackie Jormp Jormp bio.
JJJ was based on Dave Van Ronk or I’m repeating myself? Whatever, I’ll probably say it again about Clit’s a Wonderful Life. I’m not that clever.
What is with lots of movies now looking like they were filmed in perpetual fog, or wiht a gauze over the camera? Is this some half-assed attempt to make digital cameras seem more 70′s film-like, or are they trying to make sure people with normal vision don’t have a one-up on people with glasses?
That shit looks like ass.
Also – sleepy hipster indie music crying seems played out. Unless of course they’re going to toss his scene-bearded ass into a wood chipper. Then it might be watchable.
Underball is a cinematography buff. I bet he has like 100 movies in the collection and 20 of them are Avatar.
Coen Brothers are the best. I will see anything they make. I’ll be there opening night.
Big fan of the Bros. I love how they keep it fresh, doing something huge like O Brother or True Grit, and following it with something little like The Man Who Wasn’t There, or A Serious Man, or …this one. That said, this trailer doesn’t give you much to cheer for.
Agreed, I was much more excited reading the headline than I am after watching the trailer. Maybe it’s the wall to wall Dylan or just the pacing of the trailer but it’s rather dull. But alas, a Coen Bros movie always has my butt in the theater and I’m sure this movie won’t disappoint.
When i first heard awhile back this was the movie they were doing next I was kind of bummed, but this looks pretty incredible.
That’ll learn ya to doubt them.
But I feel you – it’s all kind of a let down after No Country. It’s hard to get back to that place. But even the shittiest Coen movie is still better than 99.7% of the horsehsit out there.
I loved True Grit, A Serious Man, and Burn After Reading. they may not be as good as No Country, but not much of what they did prior to that film is as good either. so comparing everything to it isn’t really the way to go IMO.
I think I’m the only one that doesn’t like No Country. But then I also seem to be the only one that doesn’t like a lot of Coen Brothers stuff. The only ones I liked were O Brother, True Grit, and Raising Arizona (Lebowski gets a nod but I never go out of my way to watch it).
@IRISHDA
you are not alone….. I hated No Country – mainly due to the ending…… such anti-climatic POS.. I WANTED TO SEE THE DAMN SHOOTOUT….. but no all you see is the aftermath,,,,, way to go and NOT even give a curtesy reach around jerks…..
people who don’t like the Coens or more specifically No Country i have such disdain for.
I love the Coens but I was very disappointed with the ending of NCFOM. Also with the ending of A Serious Man, as well as the beginning and the middle, what a piece of shit.
The Coens are at their best when they’re focused, and No Country is very focused…until the guy dies. Then it meanders around jerking itself off until it explodes all over Tommy Lee Jones dreaming of his dead dad or something.
Fuck you guys, the ending to No Country is great. I don’t need everything tied up in a nice little bow.
Clearly I’ll see it, but I’m not feeling the main performers here.
Fun fact: Inside Llewyn Davis was a runner up for nomination in the AVN’s Best Title category
John Goodman and his Dumb & Dumber hair cut has my curiosity. But the cat-centric story line has my attention.
You are good at the internetz
we can be friends
All I need to know is how much John Goodman yells/screams in this one and I’m good to go.
theres no elves or robots? what is this bullshit?
This cool kid’s litmus test isn’t impressed. I’d be more entertained picking my butt hole and smelling it than force myself to like this trailer!!
Looks good and to be fair, I do not care if I am friends with Vince or not.
Fuck Big Lebowski– It can’t even wipe Miller’s Crossing’s ass.
You serious Clark?
Miller’s Crossing is the only film of theirs I ever fell asleep during.
That’s a shame. It’s a masterpiece. The dialogue from the very first scene forward is unparalleled. Just my opinion. Irks me when people lump so much praise on Lebowski. Movie doesn’t work for me.
I hate it when people try to downplay the importance and awesomeness of The Big Lebowski. You should watch it again. In your bathrobe, with a pitcher of white russians.
I’ve tried. Didn’t work out. Tries to be clever and fails, unlike most of their films.
@PalinGivens Great name/avi
None of the characters had a nervous tick or annoying habit. What the fuck?
Looks like something I will watch and enjoy many times… on HBO in about a year.
This makes up for all the other crap I’ve had to look at today.
Yeah, this will definitely help cleanse my mind-palette.
Wow i was expecting a better trailer from the Title honestly. But Im sure I will end up loving it. Even if it is dry the films they write are just entertaining to watch from start to finish. Getting a vibe that this is the next Serious Man though…
