This is only the cropped version of a much longer screen grab (full version below) that’s been going around Tumblr. As you can see, these people all enjoyed the Red Dawn remake for all the right reasons, that I’m sure the filmmakers and studio would be very proud of. (Then again, is there a right reason for enjoying a Red Dawn remake?). The bad guys in the movie were famously changed from Chinese to North Korean after the movie was already finished, though I have a sneaking suspicion that these people wouldn’t have been able tell you the difference. The “kkk” in Todd McParlin’s second post was delightful in that there was no way our boy “@TODDDler” is savvy to how apropos it was.
I liked most of Cloud Atlas, but holy crap, that Asian make-up was so bad that it made me uncomfortable. At least they got an actual Korean actress to play Sonmi.
I assumed that those characters were not 100% Asian. It was in the future. We don’t really know what race mixing is going down then. It was weirder seeing Sonmi as a white in 1849. And if you really want to complain, using blacks for Polynesians was more of a faux pas.
It’s pretty tense here at the Kia plant. So many Dongs on high alert.
I like to see Mexicans jumping on the Asian hate-train. That shows America is changing, while staying exactly the same.

Is it considered bad now to use “Oriental” for Asian people? Cuz it kinda sounds like “ornamental,” like a big wicker ball you might buy at Pier 1 Imports to put in a bowl on your coffee table, and how can that be bad? Oh, look at me, chattering away, just forget I said anything . . .
