It’s a bit of a slow news day, but hella phatty props (sorry, I get tired of typing “kudos”) to Funny or Die for creating this mash-up trailer for Every 3D Movie Ever.
This Summer… Sh*t is going to fly at your screen… in derivative ways. Arrows will fly at your face. you’ll free fall from a skyscraper in New York City. Cities will be destroyed. Buildings will fall in similar ways. There’ll be alien… bug… things. And for some reason, a blue light will have to shoot up into the sky at some point.
You can watch it below. The side-by-side comparisons are pretty damning (even The Dark Knight Rises had a damned archery scene!). I don’t have much to add to this, but last year, someone bought the rights to Seltzer/Friedberg’s “The Biggest Movie of All Time 3D.” I don’t know what happened with that, and it doesn’t have an IMDB listing (maybe someone rightly fired the print out of a cannon into the sun), but I’m guessing that would’ve been a lot like this video, except 90 minutes long and with a Kim Kardashian impersonator getting hit with a pie for some reason.

This post and the video from the top of Morning Links from 7.22.12 are the same too!
Deja view.
will the pie hit the impersonator boobs or ass?
Anybody who thinks every 3D movie is the same has never seen Piranha 3DD….
I don’t remember David Koechner’s disembodied head motorboating a chick with biggities in Avatar. Alls I’m saying.
Clearly you haven’t seen Hugo.
You just wait; archery is going to be the new parkour.
Ahem, Dark Knight Rises =/= 3D.
Actually, several of the movies in this video weren’t released in 3D(Chipwrecked/Mission Impossible/Battleship). It’s still funny and makes me feel pretty sad that so many blockbusters have the exact same setpieces/scenarios, though.
It makes me feel pretty sad that anyone knows even that little bit about Chipwrecked.
3D movies make me gassy
LOLZ so wrong!!! Try Titanic 3D on for size some time.
I thought 3D movies only existed to try to grab easy money from moronic audience members – but then I watched the trailer for “Katy Perry: A Part of Me”. My faith in art has been restored. Thank you Hollywood.
