This is a list of tonight’s screenings from the AMC Van Ness theater in San Francisco near where I live. Yes, those are all different screenings. I’ve never seen anything like this, and it seems to be similar situation in most major cities. Here’s the Regal Union Square in New York:

The AMC River East in Chicago:

The Arc Light in LA:

Carmike Cinemas Cobblestone, Des Moines, Iowa:

I guess what I’m trying to say is, you’ll probably be able to find a ticket without paying $150 to a scalper.

They have 8AM at the Metreon along with the 3:45AM showings. This movie is going to make as much money as humanly possible this weekend. Showings around the clock in as many theaters as available.
I’m going to Metreon tomorrow night to see it with a wish and a flask of bourbon. My buddy Fred Willard flaked on the though…
Is it possible TDKR makes 500 mil this weekend and Vince bounces back to win Fantasy Summer Box Office? It’s a Cinderella story if I’ve ever seen one.
I hope all the bat-nerds remembered to feed their pets before getting in line or else we’ll be seeing the reptilian equivalent of the Twilight: New Moon Catpocalypse of ’09.
No lines at all – bought my tickets online weeks ago. Sparky will be given a veritable feast on this glorious occasion before my departure.
I assume they’re showing it on that many screens to assist in turnover, since at 164 minutes this film is longer than a Val Kilmer dinner at Golden Corral.
Oh, to be a fly on *that* table
I know a friend of mine bought tickets to a 12:05 showing in Lexington, Kentucky today at Regal Cinemas. Last week there was only the trilogy, the 12:01, the 12:02 & the 12:03 showings. They’ve apparently added at least 12:04 and 12:05 showings.
Me and my homebrodies are going to the four twenty show…did I do that right?
Just picked my tickets up and was told that all nine (NINE!) theaters for midnight are sold out. Granted, the seats are La-Z-Boys (no lie), so the theaters only hold about 100 people, but still.
Hell yeah Carmike Cobblestone, that’s my local (terrible awful and very cheap) theater!
The theater I am going to see it at in Lexington is now up to six midnight screenings and two 6:30pm screenings of the entire trilogy plus 31 more screenings tomorrow starting around 11am.
Could you imagine blowing a guy for a half hour for sold-out Dark Knight Rises tickets and then finding out they’re selling ‘em at the door?
That’d be like blowing a guy for a half hour for sold-out Dark Knight Rises tickets and then finding out they’re selling ‘em at the door.
There’s no other way to complete that analogy, because that’s the shittiest thing that could ever happen to you.
One of my favorite jokes from that special.
This is happening everywhere I think. The Regal in Dublin, CA has 19 Midnight showings plus an Imax and a second Imax showing at 3:30 am.
Including the Imax showings, 7 of the screenings are sold out.
For tomorrow, There are 46 showings (including Imax) and most of the Imax has sold out.
This movie is going to make $300 million this weekend.
Should we get a pool going? I say $270 million.
This movie is really going to show the time and space limitations of how much money a single movie can make in a single weekend. I really think they should only show “The Dark Knight Rises” on every screen in every movie theater in the country to see what the physical limits are on maximizing revenue for the opening weekend of a single film.
Yea I’m in San Jose and every theater here has the “12:01, 12:02, 12:03…” thing going, some all the way up to 12:11, plus a few 3:30 and 3:45 showings. A part of me wants to go to a 3 am movie screening just to see what kind of crowd is there..
A 3:45AM showing would work if you went to bed early and slept before seeing the movie. You could go straight from theater to your job and brag about seeing the movie and still have a decent night’s sleep.
The Cinemark I’m going to in Plano, Texas already has 15 sold out shows between 12:01 and 12:30, plus 7 more shows between then and 1:15 that haven’t sold out yet.
Aurora, Colorado seems to be having a showing in SENSAROUND™.
+1
I find it very amusing you happened to chose the theater in Des Moines that I went and saw it at. Just a pure bit of randomness.
