Sony just released the first teaser trailer for Skyfall, the 23rd James Bond movie, starring Daniel Craig, opening November 9th. Sam Mendes directed this one, so even though Javier Bardem plays a villain, Bond’s real enemy is likely to be middle-class ennui.
Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. [IMDB]
“I’ll take a vodka martini and a carton of smokes. …20 pounds?? This time, it’s personal.”
The first teaser is long on style, but short on plot. Bond plays a word association game, and then we get a fun little montage of various shit getting owned. Okay, you got me, I’m excited, kind of. Though with all the product placement Bond movies have these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if the full version of that word game is more like…
“Aston Martin.”
“Luxury.”
“Masculinity.”
“The new Gillette Fusion Mach 6.”
“Fear.”
“Not having the Carbonite system to back up my important files.”

At least the little action bits seemed to be devoid of Shaky-Cam ™. Give Mendes this: he left room in the budget for tripods.
More like…Javi-aryan Bardem. AMIRITE?
Javier Bardem thought bubble: “Damn, I still wish that old f*ck had called tails.”
Bardem: “Do you expect me to act?”
Mendes: “No Mr. Bardem, I expect you to dye it blonde”
Found out the other day that Javier Bardem use to play international rugby for Spain…..there’s no follow up to that.
Javier Bardem? I thought that was Taylor Negron. Bummer.
Rorschach’s word association will always be #1.
Wow. No Dubstep. That amount of restraint is unheard of these days.
What with the interrogation scene and the shadowy villain walking away from a fiery explosion, this trailer was just a few BRRRRRRMMMMMMs away from being a trailer for a Christopher Nolan film.
Hey, at least Agent Provocateur as product placement makes sense. Of course James Bond would endorse a lingerie.
I’m just glad to see the DB5 has a cameo.
More Bond word play:
Blood : Vodka
Woman : many
Condom : never
script : optional
Man. Deakin’s work looks so amazing in this. I love the use of available light to capture looks both realistic, modern, and stylized, if that makes sense.
Really, really have nothing bad to say about this trailer and am so looking forward to this. Any other movie that had a crew like this, including the screenwriter and supporting cast, would be getting a probably oscar buzz. The fact that they are assembled for a Bond film just tickles me pink.
*probable. Ugh.
